My family and I were on holidays in the area and ended up trying this Thai place close to our hotel as the reviews were quite good compared to the rest. We were honestly disappointed as it wasn’t as authentic we’d expect or probably not at par to our standards. This is only our opinion. My husband and I are fans of Thai cuisine so we could really tell if a place is good or not. We loved the Pad Thai and coconut fresh juice though and the rest was alright perhaps. The service wasn’t really amazing either, we arrived at the place and the ACs were turned off even if it was starting to get warm as more people have arrived. Not too sure why fans were on instead. I had to ask them if they could turn it on and the lady who assisted me wasn’t really as approachable. The place got quite busy and there were only 2 persons serving the food and taking orders here and there so we knew they were really pressured with the amount of customers. So my husband had to request for a tissue for our baby but could not get hold of any. He saw they were busy, he grabbed the tissue plastic on the shelves to help himself out and ended up being told off not to do it. So I jumped in and explained that no one of you is available and you were all quite busy so we had to do it ourselves. We waited more than 5 minutes and my baby has food all over the place. Rather, she said he can’t do it and it is their policy. She had taken the plastic tissue from my husband hands right away. We would’ve understood it but the way it was said was kind a bit off, felt like we weren’t customers. She was annoyed for sure. We just want to help them out in a small gesture but didn’t expect it turned out that way. Anyways, they were still friendly regardless. We just think this place is highly overrated. Wouldn’t really visit again if I visit Gold Coast QLD in the future. Far way better Thai cuisines. Just very weird how come it got...
Read moreDespite being regular customers who enjoy the great food at Cocohut, we were disappointed by the poor service we received during our recent visit. We requested a table for four as we had ordered coconut water, which takes up a considerable amount of space on the table, along with three mains to share. However, the waiter who attended to us on April 18th insisted that we take a table for two instead of offering us one of the four available tables.
As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I understand the challenges that come with accommodating customers' requests, but I believe that the waiter could have handled the situation better. We were left waiting for ten minutes without any information on how to order our lunch. It was only after I approached the staff myself that we were informed that we needed to order at the counter. To make matters worse, despite ordering the food to share, we were not provided with a share plate, and I had to go and get it myself.
In the end, we felt that our experience was marred by the poor service we received because we asked for a table for four when we were only two. As a result, we have decided not to return to Cocohut. We hope that the management takes note of these issues and improves the service for all customers...
Read moreI really expected to like this place given the reviews, but my meal was simply awful. The yum beef salad was barely edible as it was drowning in fish sauce, the salad was tiny, and it had HUGE chunks of raw garlic throughout. The prawn pad Thai was disappointing but probably the best dish we got. The caramelised onion was a nice touch, but the prawn was greatly over cooked, for some unknown reason a tonne of tofu was added to the dish even though thisit out, there were barely any vegetables (I don’t think there were any vegetables) so it was basically just noodles and some bean sprouts, and at the bottom of the container there was minced meat which makes me question whether the pan it was cooked on was clean. Not happy and disappointed in the lack of care or consideration towards peoples dietary preferences/needs in the preparation of this dish. The massaman beef (hot) was ok, but the onion in it was practically raw and it had massive chucks (again) of red chillies all throughout the sauce which we had to navigate through. Not a pleasant experience and would not recommend. Definitely not the best Thai and I’m very confused by some of the other reviews making this claim. $70 all up and portion sizes were nothing to rave about - in fact the yum beef salad...
