We visited the Mantra Legends Hotel during Christmas 2024.||||The hotel entrance benefits from an expansive triple height glass wall overlooking the pool and fountain, which floods the lobby with bright natural sunlight. ||||The pool is favoured by families staying at the hotel, while the lobby bar services both the indoor bar area and poolside seating locations. However, we found the service at the bar to be initially lacking. Having visited during peak time over Christmas, we attended the bar on boxing day for a few drinks with friends. Upon entering the bar there was nobody in attendance for quite some time, before i decided to go to reception, having to line up, and enquire whether the bar was actually open (the lights were on but nobody there). Reception made a phone call, which i could hear ringing in the back room of the bar, after which a gentleman in a suit surfaced from the back room and made himself available. That said, upon ordering drinks, the service did not feel very welcoming, almost like we had disturbed whatever he had been doing in the back room. ||||My family and friends continued to order drinks, as did others now they could see the bar was actually open, and i thought to myself that in those two hours or so we all must have spent at least $400 on drinks - but what if we hadnt followed up with reception? The hotel would have missed out on this revenue and we would have missed out on utilising this fantastic little lobby lounge bar. Indeed, the hotel was fully booked out so the bar should have been buzzing!||||After about an hour or so, there was a young lady attending service at the bar, and her service was warm, efficient and welcoming.||||During this visit, we booked a Hotel Deluxe Ocean Studio, which featured a fully self contained kitchen and utensils, shower and tub, two twin beds and best of all, expansive views directly across the beachfront from the bedroom and directly towards the ocean from the balcony. You can see the video review on my Youtube channel.||||The tv wasnt the biggest, but it was the latest UI and had more channels and movies than anyone could want. ||||We loved the amazing sea breeze that would come from the ocean front just 100 meters away, so there was little need for air conditioning, albeit the aircon was working nicely. ||||One thing that we really loved about the view was the nightscape across Surfers, all the surrounding hotels and towers lit up, as well as the amazing moonlight over the ocean, reflected towards an endless horizon. ||||Between that, and the sound of crashing waves, a good nights sleep was guaranteed. ||||That said, the widows and balcony doors were virtually soundproof once closed, while the room was also immaculately clean in every way, including every element of the kitchen. ||||The balcony was just perfect for two guests, just enough room to stretch your legs and enjoy a drink or snack on the table, while lapping up those sea breezes and stunning views, looking into infinity across the south pacific ocean. ||||The beds themseleves, in the twin configuration we tried, were oh so comfortable, on the softer side, which we liked. The linen and blankets were spotlessly clean, while the drawers and cupboard provided more than enough room. ||||Initially at checkin, we were offered an upgrade to the Spa Suite, however, having done our research, we knew the spa suites did not have the same gunbarrel views across the ocean, so we were glad to have stuck with our originally booked room, Overall, the service from hotel reception staff was fantastic. They were responsive by email prior to arrival, and professional and efficient during our stay. We've read some reviews online that say the opposite, however, we can't agree. ||||Similarly, we've read comments about the hotels interior and elevator being rundown, but again, not during our visit, everything was spick and span, including the presence of hotel staff. ||||This was notwithstanding that the hotel was at full capacity, being Christmas time, and so they would have been fully stretched during this peak season. ||||We must say, we definitely had a great experience staying at Mantra Legends Hotel. Should we revisit surfers paradise anytime soon, this hotel will surely remain high on the list for a rebooking and further stay, ||||We just can't deny how much we loved those ocean views, and found ourselves looking for reasons to stay in the room instead of attending to the schedule of sites we had on our to do list. ||||There's something raw about the sound of the ocean crashing on that endless beach, its almost zen-like. . . . somewhat like a...
Read moreStayed in a Studio Deluxe, we found out the rooms name to be a bit misleading... Judging from the pictures and other reviews we were excited to stay at this hotel, however that shortly changed. I hope to change some minds with the experience that we have received.
The Reception - receptionist was talking to us with rolling her eyes, haven't seen a single smile. She looked as though she was dreading to be here. I'll begin a small breakdown of each section of the hotel.
The rooms - we have been presented with a chemical smell as soon as we walked into the room, we had to open the balcony to air out the room properly otherwise we would have been sick. The bathroom was shocking, the toilet seat was coming apart and in order to sit down on the toilet, the seat had to be shifted into the middle. The bathroom was lacking a fan so we had to either shower with an open door or to wait 20 minutes for the fog on the mirror to settle. The wooden frame of the mirror in the bathroom was puffed up from the moisture in the bathroom which did not present a good look. As soon as I have opened the bathroom towel to have a shower the first night, I was presented with a chewing gum full of hair stuck in the middle of the towel. Not to mention the countless amounts of hair we found around the room. The lightning in the room was also shocking, the main light switch only turned a small bulb next to the door and the rest of the light had to be produced by the 3 headlamps around the room.
The Restaurant/Cafe "Tales" - As soon as we arrived we were notified of the happy hours from 3pm-6pm for half price pizzas so we decided to give them a try. The $24 went down to $12 which made it an appealing deal. The meatball/sausage pizza only contained about 50 grams of meat and the rest of the pizza was made up of cheese and an unhealthy amount of grease. We had to scrape the grease off with knives in order to get rid of oil. The pizza was not even wood fried for a $24 price tag. We also decided to get some tap water. Due to horrendous pizza experience I have decided to inspect the glass of water and to no surprise I have found "floaties", pieces of food what seemed to be, floating in my and partners glass. At that point, we have had enough and decided to never use any of the restaurants that are located inside the hotel.
I was very surprised to see a 4 star hotel along with many reviews to turn out so poorly, I believe the tourists of Mantra Legends are satisfied with the overall experience, however if you have had some sort of hotel experience in the past, this is just plain awful. Would never stay here again. 2/5 due to the location of the hotel, otherwise this could have...

First thing, its affordable when compared to other hotels in Surfers.
My experience: I arrived one hour early, they chrcked me in without a fuss. (With smile)
I asked them for a beach towel. (Got it with smile)
I asked then for room change to room with ocean view. Got them without a fuss and no extra charge. (With smile)
I asked them for umbrella when it was raining. Got them for free without extra charge. (With smile)
Buffet breakfast for 50 dollars. Bacon and Egg roll in Surfers costs around 14 bucks. Thats cheap when you can eat scrambled egg, fried egg, toast, pancake, croissant, bacon, beef sausage, fruits, dhaal and mang more. You can also drink various forms of coffee, juice which was delicious and fresh and tea. It was worth it. Get as many plates as you want and no one will roll an eye on you.
Swimming pool is 25 degree which was bearable for me at the time of this review.
Heated pool(I would call it Spa as it is Spa) worked as it was supposed to and runs tilll 9 PM.
Has lively bar where you can order from.
Hallway carpets had some stains in it, but remember you are paying more than half times less than other hotels.
Housekeeping was as it was supposed to. Did some extras. Clean room and has tv with cable access if you want to waste your time in hotel room rather than spending time at Gold Coast during out door activities.
1 mins from Surfers Paradise station. 5-6 mins from Cavill Avenue station.
I asked them for one extra blanket and I got 2 in less than 5 minutes.
I paid $200 deposit by cash and got jt back in 5 minutes of checking out. If paid by card, it depends on your bank.
This was a great experience. Excellent customer service. And the best part was when I asked to keep the luggage for whole day as I checked out at 10 and my flight was at 8, then said, "Sure, why not. How many bags do you have? Oh all good, easy."
This place is awesome. And I am not connected to them by any way. Its just that I appreciate their hospitality. Kudos to the whole team....
