A Seafood Surprise at Fin's Choice Fish and Chips

Nestled in Benowa, Fin's Choice Fish and Chips proved to be a hidden gem that satisfied my seafood craving.

Here's a taste of my recent experience: The grilled mixed seafood with Greek salad and chips was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Opening the box revealed a pleasant surprise - each component neatly arranged in separate cardboard dishes, a thoughtful touch that kept everything fresh and hot. This unique presentation sets Fin's Choice apart from your average fish and chip shop. When they ran out of sea scallops, the staff's proactive approach of adding extra prawns and calamari was much appreciated. The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot-on, making it a delicious and affordable meal. However, the calamari was tough, a minor negative in an otherwise excellent meal. A little finesse in cooking time or tenderising over a period of time before cooking could elevate this dish to perfection. Despite this small issue, Fin's Choice has won me over with their quality, presentation, and value for money.

First of all, thank you for confirming that the mussels we received weren’t on your regular menu. That’s a key issue -especially because I’m allergic. There was no mention of what was inside the "surprise bag" before purchase, and when we got home and found out it was just mussels -nothing else we were genuinely shocked. A surprise bag still comes with a level of expectation that it includes food items representative of your offerings, not a random one-off item that excludes or endangers people with allergies.

We understand the spirit of Too Good To Go, but offering only one surprise item especially one not listed and that’s a common allergen without any warning or variety, is a letdown. Instead of taking the feedback constructively, your response chose sarcasm and legal threats, which frankly says more about your customer service than our original review ever could.

It’s very hard to find a really good fish and chip shop in the entirety of Queensland, but when I say Fin’s Choice easily takes that spot I mean it. Between the fresh seafood boils to the multiple different classic fish an chip options. And always having exciting new things to try on the menu, fins choice have definitely cemented themselves as an amazing place for everyone to stop into.
