Fish and Chips TARO — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

This place is at the Metro market, Biggera Waters. Three years ago this fish and chip shop was super clean and the food was excellent. Since the new owners took over, the quality of the food has deteriorated very badly.

On Easter Sunday what I purchased was appalling. Stale, soggy, old chips reheated and stale potato scallops. After a few mouthfuls the entire lot went in the rubbish. Keep away from this place it's just awful in every way. The place smells dreadful, it's so bad that you need to wait for your order outside.

Although further to travel, I recommend Paradise Point for your fish and chips, where you will find a beautiful, clean, row of shops, serving delicious takeaway food. Paradise Point, The Q Super centre, and Isle of Capri all provide a very good choice of eateries and delicious takeaway food.

A few of the Metro market food stores need total makeovers and regular cleaning, in addition to ongoing Health Inspector checks.

Drake's supermarket, and both coffee shops are the exception.

Fresh, crispity, crunchity fish fry goodness! And nice friendly staff! We're 2 Americans who recently moved to the area and have had fish and chips at this spot twice now. Both times were very good, first time they were very busy and we got beer battered fish plus a bunch of other stuff cos we were feeding 6 people, my dad and husband had their burgers and said they were great, and tonight I had the seafood basket which was breaded (or crumbed as Aussies say it) and my husband had the scallops and chips, it all came with plenty of yummy tartar sauce, fries were cooked to perfection, seafood was fresh and succulent and crispy on the outside. If I could give negative stars I would. Absolutely the WORST fish and chip shop in the world!!! Over half hour wait for rubbish and no one else was in the shop. I should have picked up on that. Kids menu only consisted of nuggets and chips or calamari and chips. Asked if they could do a 'cheese burger' and chips in a kids meal which they said "yes". Got home only to look over the receipt as there was no chips in the kids meal and found they charged full price for a burger then stripped it back AND THEN CHARGED AN EXTRA DOLLAR FOR CHEESE when it was already part of the original burger price. The food was horrible. STAY AWAY...
