We had extended family visiting from Sydney (who love their food!) and us locals were tasked with finding somewhere for our group of 12 to have brunch. A rainy Saturday morning, we took a punt and walked into Ground N Sound where it was quite busy. I explained that we had a group who were family visiting and Jodie and the team immediately sprung into action. They rearranged the room so that existing customers could continue enjoying their morning coffee and breakfast, and we could be seated and served. Once we had ordered our coffees and food, I started to look around the space; the faces of Elvis, Beasties Boys, Johnny Cash, Hendrix, Neil Young plastered on the roof, guitars, cassets, picks, microphones lined the walls. What an EPIC space and atmosphere for our muso family to accidentally stumble upon. Food was exquisite: potato rosties, poached eggs, avo toast, holumi grilled to perfection and an acai bowl that looked too good to eat! Sadly we didn't get any pics of the food because we immediately dug in. Key highlight for me was talking to the new owner Jodie. I thanked her from the bottom of my heart for making space for us today; we were meant to find this gem of a place. Us locals will be back, and it is now the place we will take our friends and family from now on....

It's a music themed cafe - the decor is super cool and all of the little details let you know they're true music fanatics. The playlists that soundtrack dining are top notch and varied. They even have a little library of music books and musician's biographies you can borrow.
It has a real sense of community, you see a lot of familiar faces every week, that alone tells you a place is great, because it's not only us that keep coming back. Jake and his team are very friendly and hospitable. They have open mic days, comedy nights, trivia nights and Northern Soul nights too.
The food is always fresh, super tasty and there's great gluten-free and vegetarian options too. They are always very accomodating to customer's needs and preferences. The chai, coffee and hot chocolate are brilliant. We always leave full and happy. This place is a hidden gem that is definitely worth your time and patronage. Good people doing good things. 10/10...
Β Β Β Read moreI was there for a late breakfast so the atmosphere question doesn't count because I'm sure there were no other customers.I need to go when they have live music. I like the situation of the cafe with the alley and the street tables. The food is good. I've only ever had breakfasts. The tea came in a pot but is weak, even though I requested strong. Because coffee is all the rage no one can make a good hot tea anymore. The Eggs Benedict with salmon, which I haven't eaten here before was good but the bread wasn't toasted and the eggs were hard. I don't know if they are meant to be hard but the server didn't ask me how I'd like them and I didn't think to specify. The service was fine and the food came quite quickly. I've been for breakfast before and it was busy and the service was still quite fast so being the only customer didn't change that. I would recommend...
