VERY DISAPPOINTING, UNPROFESSIONAL
At first, your staff was very friendly and welcoming, but when an issue came up, she didn’t know how to handle it, and you weren’t around. When my friend told her that we’d been charged for an extra beer and also that we weren’t going to pay the 10% surcharge, she simply ignored him and kept eating and drinking her wine instead of dealing with it.
After waiting a while with no response, my friend ended up approaching the chef to explain that we weren’t happy about the surcharge. Only then did your staff member come over to our table to explain that this is just how you operate, and added that you’d never had this issue before with “Australian citizens.” From our experience, though, we’ve never paid a Saturday surcharge at any restaurant in Burleigh.
I do understand that what you’re doing is within your rights, but we felt misled by the restaurant. The surcharge should be clearly stated on the menu, not hidden on the wall where customers can easily miss it. Unfortunately, your young staff member’s attitude also came across as dismissive rather than trying to solve the problem nicely.
On top of that, the food really wasn’t what we expected for the price. The carpaccio wasn’t good at all — the fish was so tough we couldn’t cut it with a knife, and it was more like ceviche than carpaccio. The rice was hard, and the octopus was burned. Overall, the food just felt pretty average for what we paid.
I can also see that the owner’s manners in the text messages with my partner haven’t been very nice either. He claimed that we had threatened his staff, which is simply not true. In fact, he contacted my partner and threatened him — which is unbelievable for someone in a...
Read moreUnfortunately the worst experience I have had at a restaurant, period. We dined in a group of 7 ordering an array of dishes from the menu. The chicken “skewers” which weren’t skewers were full of bones. The lamb shoulder unfortunately overcooked. The snapper was dry and the dish was incomplete, served without the baked potato. We had ordered 2 serves of chips which never came out to the table until we questioned where the baked potato was from the snapper dish to which the waiter replied they had run out of potato’s. About 10 mins later she brought 1 bowl of chips to the table. The bill came out and she had charged us for the bowl of chips to which we questioned as our snapper dish was missing potato but the waiter stated we must pay for the bowl of chips and essentially too bad that we didn’t get the potato with our snapper. The waiter was utterly rude commenting she had been at work since 11am as though that was our problem. I will never return to Mannys Wine and Fish and would not recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed as we had high...
Read moreA True Gem for Seafood Lovers!
What an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped into this charming restaurant, we were welcomed like old friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, but it’s the food—and the heart behind it—that truly makes this place special. The seafood is beyond fresh—each dish bursting with flavour, beautifully cooked, and clearly made with love. You can tell this is a chef who takes immense pride in what he serves. Every bite was a standout, from the delicate, perfectly cooked scallops to the grilled Red Emperor and the sides that complemented it all so well. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the chef and owner himself, Manny. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about his craft, he took the time to chat, share his recommendations, and make us feel completely at home. It’s rare to find a place where both the food and hospitality shine so brightly. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back! In fact in two days time for our anniversary....
