Olives Pizza Pasta Ribs — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

My husband and I heard good things about the pizza at this place and we love pizza so I was keen to try. Our go to pizza is just Mushroom and Cheese. This is a classic pizza in Italy typically called Ai Funghi. The exact order was a Large Mushroom and Cheese with Garlic and Chilli as garnishes. They did not have this exact pizza on their menu as an option, so if we wanted one we knew we would either have to order an existing pizza and remove the other toppings or ask for a custom pizza. My husband asked if we could get one of their combo/meal deals with a custom pizza and they said no and that we could only choose from the set pizzas available to include in the deals.

This was semi-expected by my husband so it was not an issue. His next question was how much would this Large Mushroom and Cheese with Garlic and Chilli custom pizza be... this was the issue!

This pizza place has four categories of large pizzas. Classic (L$15.50), Traditional (L$17), Premium (L$19.50) and Gourmet (L$23).

To put it in perspective, if we ordered a 'Vegetarian' which is a 'Classic' category pizza made up of 5 toppings (Cheese, Mushrooms, Capsicum, Olives and Onions) we would pay $15.50.

If we ordered a 'Mexican Heat' which is a 'Traditional' category pizza made up of 6 toppings and 2 garnishes (Cheese, Pepperoni, Capsicum, Onions, Ground Beef and Jalapenos... with Chilli and Garlic) we would pay $17.

Lastly, if we ordered a 'Tropicana' which is a 'Premium' category pizza made up of 5 toppings (Cheese, Ham, Mushrooms, Pineapple and Tiger Prawns... with Garlic) we would pay $19.50.

They quoted my husband $19 for the Mushroom and Cheese pizza with Chilli and Garlic garnishes.

So, for $0.50 more than they quoted us for the Large Mushroom and Cheese with Garlic and Chilli pizza we could've had Tiger Prawns, Ham and Pineapple extra but we would have to ask to add Chilli to make it comparable... seems crazy to me!

Ham is typically as much as Mushrooms as a produce cost and Tiger Prawns would be considerably more. It does not add up nor make sense and so we took our business elsewhere... This is not a sledge on their quality or taste as I am sure it is good but these shady business practices without any thought to logic at the expense of good customer service is the warning. Don't go here if you need any changes to your pizza as you may be shocked to find that you will be price gauged for the inconvenience, albeit less work to make as less...

Was a little disappointed with our pizzas after the reviews we had read seemed so positive. We thought we'd try something other than our usual Domino's go-to as, despite them being cheap, they are only so-so. Olives came up as a seemingly good alternative. Unfortunately we were very underwhelmed, especially at $50 for 3 "large" classic/traditional pizzas all on the regular base. My initial thought was that they looked good and the aroma was pleasant. My first bite from mine was full of garlic but not overpowering. The rest of the ingredients seemed okay enough, however, the base was dreadful - it tasted very dry, I'd go as far as to say stale even. I only ate 3 slices and threw the rest away. The bases on the other 2 pizzas were good though so I'm not sure what happened to mine. My pizza was supposedly a spicy one, however, my daughter's pepperoni one was just as spicy if not more so. It was too spicy for her to eat. The third pizza was a vegetarian - again, fairly underwhelming. There was nothing particularly wrong with it but there was nothing great about it either. All in all a pretty disappointing experience.

Take away we ordered marinara pizza . The pizza was delivered hot and fresh . The toppings were generous and I loved how the seafood taste still shined through , the only thing I would have liked would be a bit more garlic flavours and seasoned ! . Minor. Wings , we got the Bbq chicken wings 1 pack of normal 1 pack spicy. The bbq ones were well balanced of sweet but not over sweet ! The chilli wings had a nice kick but not much after flavour. Again minor ! From ordering to delivery was so good as I said all was so fresh . Garlic bread is just a generic store brought garlic bread nothing special..
