Very disappointing and won't be back for another meal. We booked a table for lunch yesterday (Sunday) to spend time together for the anniversary our our father's death at a place he used to enjoy coming to. Admittedly it has been a few years since we had been due to him being sick and we don’t live locally, but at first we were impressed with the changes. It wasn't until we asked for menus that we were told that we had to do it all ourselves from the qr code on the table. 20 minutes later, eventually finding a phone in our group that was actually compatible with it, and stuffing around trying to find menu items and drinks and entering all your personal details, we finally placed our order. We found it a bit rude that we were asked to pay a tip as part of the ordering process. A tip for what? Nobody was doing anything for us? If anything, we should receive a discount for doing all the work for them. Drinks arrived not too long after, however due to a glitch in the system that we were told "don't get me started" and "it can't be fixed" the drinks that we had to order (qty 3) with the kids meal came as Apple juice instead of the 2 x Orange Juices and 1 x Lift. Ok. We went along with that. She had obviously been questioned many times over it. About half an hour later, our meals arrived. Food was delicious. Compliments to the chef. Decent size and value for money. We were a bit unlucky though, as we seemed to be there at the same time as some sort of sporting event was on TV, and it was pretty loud at times with a lot of people "encouraging" the players. Not the quiet relaxing atmosphere we experienced previously. As we were leaving, we were pulled up by a staff member to tell us we couldn't walk through the gaming area with a 2yo, and that next time we would have to walk him through their own car park, that you now have to pay for parking, around the back of the building and down the street, to enter via the front to get to the dining area. Not the safest option for a toddler when there is an entrance right there. Last time we were there, the dining area was inside these doors and we didn't know any different. We were thankful for the small kids area in the corner of the dining area. Very basic, but was great to keep our little one amused while we ordered and waited for our meals to arrive. Maybe we are a bit emotional and it seemed a lot worse than it actually was, but this is how we experienced our visit. Hopefully other have lot more...

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so unpleasant that I felt it needed to be shared.
My boyfriend and I decided to try Palm Beach Hotel for dinner after I walked by earlier in the day and thought the place looked nice. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment.
We ordered two burgers, a beer for him, and a cocktail for me through the QR code on the table. Shortly after, a waitress (brown hair, mid-30s to 40s) brought my boyfriend’s beer and asked to see our IDs. Fair enough—I’d forgotten mine, which was my mistake. However, I offered to show her a photo of my passport instead. She radioed the bar to ask if that was acceptable, and they said no. I completely understood and told her I’d just have some water instead.
At this point, I thought we’d resolved the issue. Instead, she told me I had to leave. I was stunned—we’d already ordered and paid $82 for dinner. I calmly explained that we were waiting for our food, but she was adamant: “You can’t stay. You need to leave.”
What made this worse wasn’t just her refusal—it was her attitude. Her tone was sharp and condescending, as though I’d personally offended her by forgetting my ID. When I asked her to speak to me respectfully, she snapped, “You should learn to carry your ID.” Sure, she had a point, but there’s a way to enforce policy without being outright rude. Her demeanor crossed the line from firm to downright unpleasant.
We were offered a refund, but even that process was handled poorly. She initially tried to refund the wrong order, and we waited an additional 10 minutes while she sorted it out. By the time we got our money back, we were frustrated, hungry, and frankly over the whole experience.
As someone who has worked in hospitality, I know firsthand how important it is to enforce policies professionally while still treating customers with basic respect. What we experienced was unnecessary, unkind, and just disappointing.
In summary, if you’re looking for a place to spend your evening, I wouldn’t recommend Palm Beach Hotel unless you’re prepared for rude staff who seem more interested in making a point than providing a...
Read moreVisited with family. Stayed overnight. We had 2 rooms. One was a self contained apartment which was clean and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was old but clean and functional. There was no microwave in the kitchen! The windows did not open as thery were all screwed firmly shut. The other room was a backpacker style room with 3 double bunks, hand basin and small mirror. Both rooms had airconditioning. The backpacker room had a slight musty odour. (Suspect it was from the airconditioning) beds were rock hard in that room as were the pillows!! However the linen in both rooms was clean and crisp, the towels were lovely and soft and in plentiful supply. Rooms are accessed by a fairly long flight of stairs which can be very tiresome when you have to carry groceries up them as well as contend with children. Also not so good for older or disabled. Location is in an easy walk to the beach and coles is just across the road . BUT parking is an absolute nightmare. There is no allocated parking for paying guests and the carpark is very much here we stop here we park regardless of where that might be. Some even taking up 2 parks at a time!!. If you like sleep forget it as the place echoes each time someone opens and closes the room doors...there was a lot of movement due to guests visiting the shared bathrooms. Not to mention the noise from the carpark with intoxicated people arguing and some one having an extemly noisy motorbike parked under the window idiling and then beig reved. There is a a shared kitchen living area at the top of the stairs. Which was fairly well appointed. Over all the place was pretty clean with a lovely bistro down stairs . alfresco dining available. House keeping were very friendly and helpful. They do...
