The chefs at Pagnaat are producing the best Indian food on the Gold Coast. It’s great to see an Indian restaurant on the coast with a menu that isn’t stuck in the 90’s. We began with the Chaat and Sheekh Kabab. The Samosa Chaat was a delicious balance of flavours from the crispy ample sized samosa and the tangy, spicy chutneys that surrounded it. The Seekh Kabab was perfectly spiced, tender meat and a hint of smokiness from the tandoor, just like my dad’s. The starters were refreshingly washed this down by a Kingfisher. We were told after the fact by friends that their cocktails hit hard.
For the mains, i ordered the rare sight on menus, the vindaloo. This was packed with finger licking bold flavors and just the right amount of heat for anyone who loves a spicy dish. The dish had just the right level of heat so you could still taste the flavours of the dish. I mopped the dish up with the soft, warm garlic naan. The naan has just the right amount of garlic that complimented the Vindaloo. I also prefer naan to rice, as it doesn’t fill you up as quickly as rice. My wife had the delicious thali that was a great and delicious way to sample the menu’s range of flavours.
Both these dishes came home with us cos they were soo large.
I also had a mango lassi chaser after the beer and it was refreshing and creamy, perfectly balancing the spicier dishes. It was like literally a liquid mango. We couldn’t eat another thing, but the restaurant gave us a complimentary carrot halva, which we couldn’t say no to. The dessert was rich, warmly spiced, and just sweet enough to finish the meal on a high note.
The staff was attentive and friendly throughout, making the experience even better. This will definitely we our go to dine-in and...
Read moreWhat an absolute hidden gem! So friendly and accommodating even though I could tell you were busy! We ordered take away… I am actually not even finished my plate as I jump on here and just have to share how absolutely delicious! The aromas of each dish are dancing on our tongues! So different every dish yet I cannot choose which one I like the best!! We ordered take away the lamb Rogan Josh (hot), it is nice and spicy, but the right way that doesn’t hinders the incredible flavour, really warms your soul! The Pangaat Special chicken curry (medium), such a refreshing combination of flavours. Mango Chicken (mild), which was a toss up between that and butter chicken, but this!!! So smooth and the perfect balance of creamy and sweet, subtle but yet so full of flavour. Even the salad salsa, sooo fresh and cleansed the palette between each dish, not that it was required as each meal was honestly so different yet accompanied each other so beautifully with fragrant fluffy coconut rice. I’m a sucker for a good naan bread and sides! Chilli naan, cheese and garlic naan, mango chutney, spicy mango chutney, cucumber & Bondi Raita, house made chilli and what must have come complimentary with the naans (which by the way where so light and just Devine!) ; mint yoghurt and a coriander zesty blend. All I can say is I don’t think you can go wrong with any dish from here. Honestly if your looking for an authentic Indian meal that warms your soul and is worth every $, Pangaat Indian Restaurant is were it is at! Definitely our...
Read moreDecided to eat at Pangaat for the first time last Saturday following reading so many positive comments. Ordering my takeaway at 6:15pm I wasn’t too surprised, after stating the aforementioned, that I could collect my meal in 50 minutes, to which I duly arrived 50 minutes later. On arriving I found the restaurant to be busy with a buzzing atmosphere, again a good sign, and on announcing my arrival to collect I was informed that my order would be coming soon and was asked to wait outside in the carpark. After approx 10 minutes I noticed that a customer who was also obviously waiting for his takeaway meal in the carpark was presented with his order by a member of staff thereby providing me with hope of my orders soon arrival. After approx another 20 minutes I returned into the restaurant to ask how much longer my order would take to only find my order sitting on the counter. When I asked how long my meal had been sitting there I was disappointingly provided with the response “It’s ready now”. On arriving home, and reheating my $60 meal in the microwave, I’m glad to say that the quality and taste of the food was very good and one of the best Indian meals I’ve had on the coast, but I’ll avoid ordering takeaway in future given my experience. And a word of advice, for what it’s worth, if you can’t provide a comprehensive service to your customers then don’t, and maybe you should try to walk before you can run so early in the lifecycle of your new venture, you have a great opportunity in your hands so...
