Venue is praise for taking the Surf club food options out of the 1970's fish n chips deep fried menus. Some interesting menu offers. Cold brew black coffee was very good quality coffee. Well done on giving us Choc mint matcha; twas up there as well, but only a 4. Why. Choc Mint is naturally married with my eternal blessing making this an easy 4. The Vegi option was ok. Not filling and a good brunch option. If I'd been in the surf all day. Nup. Would've required a few more to quell the hankering caused via a sustenance void. Overall, Not brilliant but considering they are a Toastie specialist. But will go back for other menu choices. The Ruben lacked the obligatory pickle or corned silverside wow factor. Placing the pickle on top with their special flavoured inhouse made powder sprinkle on top of the Sandwich contributes to this opinion. My personal preference is a stronger pickle flavour of cloves infused vinegary style meat. Finally, they got the order name wrong or I forgot my name. Mmmm.. so they meal was sitting there a while until we asked about the meal. Maybe a beeper system negates future repeat of this..No biggy, things happen.

Popped into Rafiki on a rainy morning hoping for a full beachside brunch, but with only outdoor seating and the weather not playing along, we ended up eating in the car. Still, the atmosphere and friendly service made up for it. We were a bit hungry so we tried the Taco Bowl and the Vegetarian Halloumi Toastie — both were solid choices. The toastie had a bold, punchy flavour thanks to the seasoning, and it really hit the spot. The bowl was fresh, filling, and a great option if you're after something on the healthier side. Also grabbed two large mochas (with three shots each!) — great quality coffee that definitely gave us the morning kick we needed. Only downside was the Almond Croissant, which came out burnt on the bottom. I’d asked for it toasted, but it was a bit too much and left a bitter aftertaste. Not a dealbreaker, but a quick check before packing takeaway would go a long way — I would’ve mentioned it if we were dining in. Overall, good prices, creative menu, and a chilled beach vibe. Would happily go back to explore more of their bowls and toasties — hopefully with sunshine next time!

Located just underneath the Mermaid Waters Surf Club is hole-in-the-wall cafe Rafiki. With only a stones throw away from the beach, this place is absolutely packed all day, constantly pumping out coffees, smoothies and light food options such as toasties and açai bowls. Staff are very friendly but you will be waiting sometimes up to 20 minutes for a smoothie. We’ve visited a couple of times for convenience, the smoothies are refreshing but flavour just doesn’t hit for me, unsure what they use as their base but the flavours just don’t go well. Food menu sounds and looks good from others reviews.

Found this place on instagram and put it on my list of places to eat while holidaying in the Gold Coast from Melbourne. Did not disappoint. Out of all of the popular places to eat on the GC I had listed down to visit, this is the only place that received a 2nd visit (would have returned more but holiday time was over). I ordered the same thing both visits. The biscoff crumpets and a fresh orange juice. The biscoff crumpets is such a simple dish but wow did it taste amazing. The orange juice was the best I’ve had, tasted super fresh and no pulp chunks which I like. On return home to Melbourne I went supermarket shopping and bought the ingredients used for the biscoff crumpets and have been making them back here at home, I’m addicted. There is minimal tables so when it’s busy expect to not get a seat, we didn’t both times. Sat on the ledge and we’re happy there then the 2nd visit walked right across the road and ate on the beach, benches are there. I think I preferred eating by the beach anyway. They also have gratitude cards you can write on while you wait, 3 things you want to thank someone for, then you place them in the jar they have. Great idea and...
