My recent visit to The Shelf, Deli Cafe in Elanora was a culinary highlight of my day. I opted for the vegetarian delight, which exceeded my expectations. The meal came with two fresh salads, each packed with an array of delicious vegetables that were both healthy and flavorful. The variety and quality of the ingredients were evident in every bite. To accompany my meal, I ordered a dirty chai that hit all the right notes - rich, spicy, and perfectly balanced. However, I did wish it had been a bit hotter to fully enjoy its warmth. For dessert, the naughty lemon and passion cheesecake was a decadent treat. Rich and creamy, it was the perfect way to cap off my lunch. The flavors were well-balanced, with the tanginess of the lemon and passionfruit complementing the cheesecake beautifully. The service at The Shelf was good, adding to the overall positive experience. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch.

Outstanding coffee. My go to coffee whenever I’m in the GC. Ladies behind the counter are the friendliest despite my unshaven disheveled appearance. Been a couple of years now but I’m here every school break and they nail my coffee every single time. Thank you ladies.

The food is always great here. In fact, I would say that its the best cafe food in a very wide area. I spend quite a bit of $ here every fortnight as I buy several containers of their food to take away for my home meals. However, the cafe is usually packed & mainly an older retired clientele. The shopping centre plays quite loud music throughout as does the cafe. I was there again this afternoon & had to yell above their loud music to give my order & hear the staff. The owner had left so I dont know if the young staff are turning the music up?? But its absolutely NOT RELAXING, especially if with friends or family & wanting to have a quiet relaxing meal or coffee. I wish the owner would take this on board! You are losing customers because of this! Ive read all your reviews here. I do agree that the younger staff need more training in customer service. I rec'd my tea but it took ages to receive my chick & salad wrap! I was the only customer there at the time as it was about 3pm. The other problem was that the wrap was overfull & it didnt go all the way around the filling so when I tried to pull the paper down a bit to eat it, it fell everywhere! Its worth continuing to go there but perhaps bit more mature staff & not such loud rock music! Ps Im not elderly but just want a more relaxing less noisy stressful...

I’ve been dining in for many, many years now and Nikki’s cafe is our absolute favourite!!! We come most Sunday mornings for brekkie but also come in with my bestie who comes all the way from Brissie every 3 weeks & I also dine in with friends too! The service is tops, the food is absolutely delicious & I always highly recommend The Shelf Deli Cafe to my clients too. To my surprise, many have come back with a great experience & so happy I suggested they go there too! In my experience, even if any minor issue arises, it’s always rectified promptly, hence why we keep coming back. I noted a handful of people leaving negative reviews here, and I genuinely can’t understand why people feel they need to be like this, when you can easily sort things with the beautiful staff. Anyhow, my family and I will be continuing to support this lovely business no matter what, and I will be continuing suggesting Nikki’s cafe to people in the future too!!! Oh and her cakes are out of this world, even for special occasions which you can preorder. I also went through Nikki to organise platters for my hubby’s 60th last December & they too were amazing!!! Nikki, thank you for always making every occasion special!!...

My experience at this café was disappointing. I placed an order for two eggs Benedict: one without bacon because of surcharge, and one with bacon. Both meals arrived without bacon. When I raised this with the waitress, I was told matter-of-factly that I hadn’t paid for bacon. There was no apology and no offer to correct the mistake, which was poor customer service.

It’s also hard to understand why cafés such as this treat bacon as a chargeable extra in the first place. When a dish is already priced at a premium, adding a basic item like bacon should not come with an additional surcharge. Just google eggs Benedict recipe you will see it has bacon.

Overall, the combination of an incorrect order, lack of accountability from staff, and questionable value for money left a negative impression. I would not recommend this café.

Good for you Nikki, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. I owned my own restaurant/takeaways for 10 years, that's all I needed to set myself up for early retirement. You can only expect the public to support you if you know what the public wants, it's their perception you have to worry about. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE...
