A True Gem of the Fleurieu â Deserving of 10 Stars!
We first stumbled across this incredible restaurant about a year ago and were instantly impressed. Super friendly staff, perfectly chilled drinks, and food that was nothing short of fantastic. We only planned to stop in for a quick drinkâended up staying for dinner. It was that good. Highly recommended from the first visit.
Fast forward to tonight, and somehow, itâs gotten even better. This place has evolved into one of the best dining experiences in the Fleurieu region. French-inspired cuisine at its finest. The chicken liver pĂątĂ© was smooth and rich, the mushroom croquettes were both crisp and creamy, and the baked Brie with local honey? Absolutely melted in your mouth. Then came the confit duck and braised lambâboth out of this world. Honestly, the duck rivalled, if not surpassed, what weâve had at the Mayfair Hotel.
What blows my mind is the valueâthis level of food and service would be right at home in the best restaurants in Melbourne or Adelaide, but here itâs offered in a warm, relaxed, coastal setting at unbelievably fair prices. An absolute credit to Goolwa. Cozy atmosphere, exceptional service, and world-class food. What more could you ask for?
If I could give it 10 stars, I would. We donât get to visit often, but when we do, we indulge to the point of needing a walk around the blockâand itâs worth every bite. A true star of the Fleurieu. Donât miss it, and localsâplease keep supporting this outstanding business. Weâll...
Read moreWow! What a gem. This was our first visit having driven past quite a few times. The verandah area has a great casual vibe but, as it was our anniversary, we wanted something a bit more special. Inside is lovely with exposed brick and velvet couches. This isn't to say you couldn't sit inside for more casual get togethers. We ordered the 'Feed me' menu. This meant we got to sample at least 7 dishes. I can honestly say, they were all sensational. Usually with this type of menu there is at least one thing that is not to your taste, but nothing on this menu disappointed. The drink menu was extensive with a good mix of beer, cocktails, spirits and a great wine selection. The service was second to none. Our waitstaff were attentive, and also mindful of the timing of the dishes, happily slowing it down a bit for us and checking that we were ready for the next course. The owner even came and congratulated us on our anniversary, and dessert was accompanied with a sparkler to symbolise 'the fireworks in our marriage'. đ
I highly recommend you visit Hayes St Kitchen and bar, it is well worth it. Some might even say it's the best on the...
Read moreThis is a little gem in the making and will surely become a star of the south coast restaurant scene and definitely a regular stop when we next visit the lovely state of South Australia. Itâs really up there for obviously fresh, local produce, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. We had the very locally sourced pipiâs as a starter - every mouthful divine. I would love to see these in a Vongole main dish only because itâs one of my favourite dishes and I love pasta.! we also enjoyed mains of the Beef Cheeks, Wagyu and CoqAu Vin accompanied by thrice cooked really âtruthfullyâ crunchy potatoes, greens and salad and all were very delicious. We just about left enough room for the cheese platter, the lemon tart and the CrĂšme BrĂ»lĂ©e, again all very decadent. The owner Daniel and staff were very attentive and also very knowledgeable about their product, which is a delight these days, therefore their service was faultless. canât wait to return and make my way...
