Heritage Pies & Pastries — Restaurant in Goolwa

We stopped in yesterday for a quick lunch. My husband couldnt even finish his pie. Curry pie filled with dried fruit/fruit mince pie mix?... he struggled to find any mince meat.There was no indication this was the case in the display or when we questioned the staff what flavour the pie was. (In fact there were no labels in the display at all). Ive never known him not to finish a pie, but this one went in the bin.

The pastry on my potato pie was underbaked and the whole thing completely fell apart when i took a bite....obviously common as there was a fork in the bag?

Add to that it is cash only, which we only discovered when reading the small sign on the register (we are not locals) we got hit with a $2.50 fee for having to use the in store atm. Not impressed given its the stores choice not to have eftpos, customers shouldnt be disadvantaged because of that.

I'm unsure why there's always so many older people at this bakery. I thought the pies must be good! It was the worst lentil and mushroom pie I've ever had, and the $9 banana milkshake had no banana in it. I think it was powder, and i cannot have that if anyone knows how bad ingredients of banana powders can be like nesquik. I hope it wasnt that because im pregnant and feel thats damgerous. Great spot to grab your pie, pastie or something sweet! Everyone goes for a variety of meat pie, but I love this place for their great choice of vegetarian pies and pasties! Today they were sold out of the mushroom and lentil pies, so I settled on a curried vegetable pastor with sauce. Most bakeries vegetarians just get offered a spinach and ricotta triangle- so very good to have 6 or 7 options. Donuts here are fantastic- but today I grabbed a custard Berliner which was top shelf.
