If you leave this hotel hungry and unsatisfied something is wrong with you. I live in NSW but make it my business when in Horsham to have a meal (or two) at the Victoria Hotel. It's one of the few remaining places that has chicken kievs.
No small meal sizes here. When receiving your meal you take a few steps to the right and there is a veggies bar, and a few steps further is the salad bar. Pile on what you can and enjoy. Fill your plate. There's scalloped potatoes, carrots, brocolli in a cheese bake, and probably others. I can't recall. The kiev comes on a bed of rice and a small serving of chips. The chips have always been hot out of the frier (I hate getting warm or cold chips).
The bistro is clean, modern, and comfortable. It is family friendly. It's always been busy when I've been there, even on quieter days of the week, which is testament to its popularity.
I'd actually rate the hotel 4.5 out of 5 if i could. I won't rate it five because the kiev doesn't gush garlic sauce when cutting in to it like I've experienced at some other places that offer chicken kiev. The garlic filling is there; it just doesn't gush (which I like and which makes a chicken kiev so delicious). That's my only criticism.
I don't know when I'll be back in Horsham, but when I am, I'll be calling in at the Victoria too. I suggest you, the reader, do the same, particularly if you enjoy a chicken kiev.
To hotel management who may be reading my review, please keep chicken kiev on the menu. They are becoming hard to get at clubs and bistros. Having it on your menu makes your hotel stand out...
Read moreHad the chicken Mexican parmigiana, mediocre at best. Chicken burnt and dry, wife had the Garlic prawns and rice, prawns were rubbery, too much rice and tasteless, son had spaghetti bolognaise (2 goes and still not right) cousin had seafood basket, and said it was only ok. Definitely won't be back here again. As i can't reply to the so called owner's reply, i will add it here and hope he reads it.
Your reply smells of self entitlement, you really have no idea who i am and your answer does not address the issue. I was bought up in Horsham and was visiting a family member (by the way we are massive in size, and i mean that in the amount of family) This Hotel used to have fantastic meals (that's why i came there) There were 4 of us and none of us were happy with the meal. My wife even put one in of her own to which your reply was, you should have stayed home. Not good enough, didn't even try to address the problem. People go out to have a meal for a change and expect good food when they go to a place to eat. Not only does your reply to both my wife and my self lack any real response, it is simply not good enough in any industry to answer the way you have. My cousin who still lives in Horsham will start contacting our immediate family and the word is going out to stay away, this only hurts your business, but hey you bought it on yourself. Whilst ever it stays in your hands we won't be back, plus hundreds more. ...
