This rating for service is no reflection on the staff this is on who I believe is the owner . The food was nice as was the chai I first ordered on coconut milk . When my friend went to re order my chai for a second time the person concerned argued they didn’t have coconut milk . This did not make sense as 15 minutes earlier I had asked for the exact same drink and received it . So I stood in line again to ask for a chai with coconut milk . I ordered it from one of the lovely staff members and the owner came around the counter and started rudely arguing with me that I hadn’t ordered my chai with coconut milk as they don’t have coconut milk she pointed to the menu with all the alternative milks and said we do not have coconut milk . The argument continued and I said I’m ordering exactly what I had 15 mins ago - she eventually opened the till and threw a $10 note at me and told me to leave the cafe and not return. I gave her the money back as I actually had not paid for the second cup of chai- This was unbelievable. I refused to leave as my friends were finishing their drinks and I had done nothing wrong . She then went to the fridge and produced almond and coconut milk and said she owned this place and this is the milk that she uses for the coffee. I said I ordered coconut milk with chai not coffee and was given what I was told was coconut milk . So I said that is your issue not mine arguing with me what I had ordered . She said I apologize (but the damage was done) - She then wanted to know which staff member had served me and told me they had coconut milk. No way was I going to discuss that . Her behavior was unacceptable - I have never experienced anything like this in my life . How sad for the other staff members and those that are part of this business . The food was nice as was the original chai which we now know was coconut and almond milk. I will never set foot in that business...
Read moreWe brought our overly-friendly dog for some fun on the beach, so we sat in the back corner trying to keep her hyper happiness contained. But the lovely staff still enjoyed her company & gave her the attention she craves! Such lovely people here! I did notice, this made it easier to bring out the orders because our dog had already received pats from this person & was now happy to wait for more (which she got). This could be a good practice for more restaurants if they don't want young, excited dogs knocking meals over.
The drinks came out & MY GOSH!! This Was The Best Chai Latte I Have EVER Had! I almost drank the whole cup before & was about to order another before the meals came out!
The poached eggs for my eggs on toast were perfect! I don't understand sourdough though. It is so tough, impossible to cut & it even cut the roof of my mouth. Yet it is everywhere now!
The savoury mince was amazing & rosti are a personal favourite as I find them a fun texture full of flavour & seriously filling.
I needed another drink after my meal & stepped inside to find a whole bakery worth of goodies! I couldn't stop smiling with all the options! How does anyone pick what they want? There were too many!! As I was looking around, another smiling face walks up & says "it's so lovely to see such a smile. What makes you happy?" I said, this place is amazing! It has everything! I'm enjoying everything about it! He smiled & said "That's so good to hear. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day & keep smiling." He then walked through to the kitchen! I just met the owner!! He was so humble & charming! This place is perfect! Everything...
Read moreTony and Yukie's coffee shop and restaurant, Bazil&Co, was the first place i had breakfast at about 7 years ago in Scarborough. I never left the place, it is always my go to for food and coffee!
How could i not go back to a place were you feel very welcomed, where they remember your usual order, where they are so friendly and overall, where you get the best service, the best food and the most amazing coffee!!
Bazil&Co has an air conditioned inside area where you can book a table in advance or even book the whole place for private events. They also have a covered outdoor area with the best views of Scarborough beach, doggs all sizes are welcomed there.
The coffee Tony and Yukie use is Segafreddo, a beautiful full bodied Italian coffee, so if you are a coffee connoisseur you are in for a treat. If you like your coffee milder or if you drink different kind of milks (soy, skim, almond or oat) they will make it to your liking. They also make all kind of cold drinks including iced coffees, smoothies and feshly squeezed juices.
Tony is there bright an early, from 5:30 am you can have a coffee or breakfast! Dave the chef is also there bright and early!
The food is also to die for, the cuisine has an Italian influence and you can get beautifully flavoured and generously served breakfast or lunch meals always with a smile.
If you are into sweets, Tony and Yukie have a whole cabinet with cake choices and another one with biscuit choices, including plenty of Gluten Free options.
If you are in for a lovely experience, i highly...
