Cafe Julz — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

On Saturday 21 December I ordered a coffee to have at the cafe and was provided a number by the young female staff member. Eventually, despite being provided a table number for service, the staff member called out in a loud voice that my coffee was ready to be collected. I collected the coffee only to realise this was not as I ordered and politely asked if this could be rectified. A short time later, she called out again with the coffee now in a take away cup and still was not the coffee I had ordered.

I suspect the first coffee was merely poured into a smaller cup in the belief it would be stronger. The cost of the coffee was almost $6 and undrinkable which I left at the premises. Certainly better places for coffee in Cleveland with far superior service and coffee and I...

My grandma, mum and I went for breakfast on Sunday morning, and I understand there would be a surcharge, but when the bill was received for three meals and two drinks, the price was only meant to come to $76 but ended up pricing $95 which is a bit extreme as a surcharge if that is what occurred. When I received my eggs Benedict we asked for no extras added but they automatically put on avocado and mushroom which boosted the price up by $8. There should just be a level of agreement that when you pay, the front service should go over the information ordered so there are no extra charges. The eggs were overcooked and the toast was not toasted, while also the mushroom was undercooked and very watery. It was still really nice service and everyone was lovely but not worth...

While the food was genuinely outstanding and the chef appeared kind and passionate about his craft, my experience was let down by the lack of transparency around pricing. There was no signage indicating a public holiday surcharge, which I understand is required by law. When I raised this and requested a refund, the service I received was disappointing — the surcharge was eventually refunded, but without an apology. I asked for a toastie ($15) and banana bread ($10) and I was being charged 13%-14% extra on top without being informed, so I was just a little taken back. I know it might not seem like much but it all adds up for some of us 💛.
