Terrible service ruined a great meal.

The food here is actually very good — which is the only reason this gets one star at all. But the service? Absolutely unacceptable.

We were served by a young woman who appeared to be of New Zealander or other Islander ethnicity (though I can’t say for certain), and her attitude from the start was shockingly rude and dismissive. There’s a clear difference between being direct and just being flat-out unprofessional — and she crossed that line instantly. Her tone was cold, condescending, and completely lacking in any basic customer service.

Finished dishes were left on our table for over 30 minutes with zero effort to clear them. Trying to get any assistance felt like an inconvenience to the staff — eye contact avoided, attitude frosty. When I asked for a minor adjustment due to medical needs, I was met with an antagonistic glare and a short, snappy response. No apology. No willingness to help. Just attitude.

It’s really disappointing because the food deserves praise. But service matters, especially at a local restaurant charging these prices. No one wants to be made to feel uncomfortable or like they don’t belong — and that’s exactly how we felt. The entire experience was soured by this one staff member’s behavior.

I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to friends unless something changes. If there’s an email address for management, I’d be more than happy to provide a detailed account — because this isn’t just a bad night, it’s a training issue that needs...

We are locals to Victoria Point and regularly visit the Lakeside precinct but hadn't tried the Lakehouse until now. We chose it for a slightly belated Valentines Dinner. The online booking process was easy and we arrived for our booking fairly early in the evening. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table inside and our drinks and meal order were taken promptly. The wheels fell off slightly after that with our main meal showing up despite having ordered a starter - which we didn't see at all. We went ahead with the mains which were good - the steak was closer to medium rather than medium well as ordered but was fine. Fish was also good and thought the prices were fair. We struggled to get attention to order dessert as the place was very busy and also incredibly noisy (at least inside) but after 20 minutes managed to attract some attention and the desserts came out soon after. We weren't offered coffee and didn't receive a bill so we just got up and paid at the counter and left. We will probably be back though might try outside hoping it might be a little quieter being out in the open - definitely need some partitions inside to mitigate the noise. Have heard some good things about this new restaurant so the wife and I thought we would support a local business to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The inside décor was very well done so thought this place was going to be great as they had put a lot of thought and effort into fitting the place out. The owners probably should have spent a bit more time and money training the staff. Upon entry, one of the staff said we could sit anywhere and they would be with us in a minute. We made ourselves comfortable and discussed between ourselves how lovely this place was and so quiet as it was Tuesday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant besides a couple of tables outside on the deck. The quiet didn't last long as the bar guy delivering drinks to other patrons was speaking/shouting so loud that even the turtles in the lake were annoyed. So after 15 minutes of sitting there and staff members walking past us, we didn't get one bit of eye contact, not offered a drink or even a menu. Even some tap water would have been nice if it was offered... Nothing. We were sick of waiting so up and left. We told the female staff member we were leaving due to absolutely no service.
