Meekak Korean BBQ Restaurant — Restaurant in Greater Brisbane

My family friends went with us to this restaurant expecting a very nice barbeque and friendly servers but what we got was far from that standard. When we first got there, we arrived earlier since the traffic was a lot faster than we expected. We told the lady who was looking at the bookings and she gave us an annoyed face as she questioned why we were so “early” when it wasn’t that early in the first place. The first thing we saw when we walked inside the restaurant was the expressions of some staff members. They gave us a nasty and ‘poker-face’ look when clearly we only walked into the restaurant.

Fast forward to when we asked the waitress to change/clean the grill plate for us, they looked down on us like we did something wrong which clearly was not the standard people should be the attitude of people serving us.

The family friends we brought along own a restaurant themselves and they said that the process of paying was unprofessional. We walked to the counter to pay and only then when we asked for the bill they showed us the bill and I heard the lady at the cashier make an ugh sound. In a restaurant wouldn’t the customer look at the bill to prepare the card or cash for it? I do not understand why the staff’s expression was so annoyed and aggravated.

When we exited this poor serviced restaurant, we could only see one door open which was the door we entered through and you’d think there would be a sign that said entry and exit and perhaps another door. Well there was not so we walked through the door and another one of the staff from the restaurant stopped and told us not to go through there again but the thing is, where do we go? What other door is there?

My overall review on this restaurant is the food and price is average, the service is absolutely disappointing and terrible. I ordered the Korean BBQ fried rice for $20 and was extremely disappointed. The dish was so wet that it looked and tasted more like rice soup or stew than actual fried rice. The bottom of the container was filled with watery sauce, and the rice had completely lost its texture — it was soggy, mushy, and unappetizing.

When we went back to the restaurant to politely explain the issue, the staff told us “this is normal”, which honestly made us even more frustrated. I’ve eaten Korean-style fried rice many times before, the fried rice I got from this restaurant last year was not the same— it can be slightly moist, but this level of sogginess is far from normal. It lacked the smoky, pan-fried flavor that a proper fried rice should have.

We requested a refund, and while we do appreciate that they gave our money back, there was absolutely no apology or concern from the staff. They handled it in a very rushed and dismissive way, which made the whole experience worse.

We walked away feeling not only disappointed with the food, but also with the customer service. For $20, I expected a freshly cooked, flavorful meal — not soggy rice drenched in sauce, followed by poor attitude and zero accountability.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience really stood out in the worst way. The picture speaks for itself.

Went here last night for a birthday celebration, there was 25 of us. The booking was made well in advance but when we arrived, there was not enough seats to accommodate the whole party. They squashed an extra table in on the end which was uncomfortable and hard to access! Staff were extremely rude, had to go to the counter multiple times during the night to ask about missing food, missing drinks and incorrect food being brought out! In particular, a vegetarian meal was mistaken for a chicken dish which had to be sent back and one of the guests had allergies and was unable to eat the dish that was served due to misinformation given by the waitress when ordering. The staff honestly just couldn't have cared less, slamming drinks down on the table, rolling their eyes at us and just basically not wanting to do their job! I've been a regular here for years but this was by far the worst experience I've had here and will most likely not be going back which is a shame because the food is actually amazing when they get it right!
