Had a booking at 12.30 today for Mother’s Day lunch after I called up yesterday to ensure they had availability. There was a long queue outside but nobody knew how long the wait was going to be or had any communication from staff. I went up to the front to ask what was happening and staff were very unhelpful- kept on saying they will go and check if there were any free tables yet. Finally got a table half an hour later after complaining about lack of communication (we would have gone somewhere else by then but our kids really wanted to try this place as we have been for breakfast before). After being sat at the table for 15 minutes, after several attempts to call someone over, I eventually managed to get someone’s attention and we placed our drink and food order. We waited for about 20 minutes for drinks and still 1.20mins later no word about our food. I asked a waitress if it was going to be much longer and she said she would check. Another 10 minutes with no communication from staff I went up to the cook window where the waitress was and she asked in the kitchen and they said 2 minutes. Still no apology. 10 minutes later our food came- our food was ok but to be honest we were all so over the whole ordeal we couldn’t really enjoy it. Entertaining an 8 year old, 5 year old and 2 year old for this time was not an easy task. Even after our food was served, not one person apologised for the wait or came to check we had everything we needed. During this whole time not one person asked if we needed any more drinks and it was hard to get their attention. When leaving I asked for the manager so I could relay our disappointment and after letting him know everything we were displeased with he just said ok and offered a very tiny discount.
Was very disappointed with the whole service and won’t be returning ever again. I understand it’s mothers days therefore busy, but they completely overbooked themselves and had no care for actual customers or...
Read moreBright, airy, wide open space, freshly painted and decorated with loads of seating that’s not crammed in so there is no need to fear the surrounding tables being too close for comfort. Fans to help beat the heat but no air-con. Staff are friendly and polite, sometimes a little too eager, but manage to be discrete while delivering table service. The tables come complete with a variety of condiments which is nice. Food was surprisingly good and quickly delivered. Coffee was very good but could have been warmer.
The only part of this dining experience that bothered me was the menu and meal names. The menu is divided into Breakfast, lunch and dinner but each are served all day so we are presented with ‘All Day Breakfast’ or ‘All Day Lunch’. It’s a minor point but annoyingly noticeable when combined with the following point. Not only was there no apparent theme to the meal names, the names of meals made no sense whatsoever. The ‘Police’ meal is savoury mince on toast? No logic at all and even the staff had trouble with remembering what the meals are and had to refer to the menu. Each and every menu item except the drinks, has a name that has no relevance to the dish whatsoever. Ordering was chaotic as we couldn’t find what we wanted without reading every single item. This is the only reason it didn’t score a 5 star rating for me.
My breakfast mate hated the artificial turf adorning half the floor. I didn’t mind it but again, there seems no relevance or...
Read moreCame here for the first time. My first thoughts were that it was a large cafe, quiet, busy, but seemed like quite a nice atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Service was quick, and food came out not long after we ordered. The first thing that concerned me, however, was the extensive menu. It just went on for days. It was overwhelming and rang alarm bells. It just overcomplicated the menu when it didn't need to. Any establishment that has a menu that large makes me think that you can't perfect that many items on a menu. sometimes a nice simple menu is best as it showcases the best dishes an establishment has to offer.
I ordered the pancakes and an earl grey tea, and if I'm being completely honest, I wasn't holding high hopes, and unfortunately, the pancakes were terrible and tasted like dry cardboard. The tea was ok and presented nicely with a little biscuit on the side and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, the cafe was a nice place to catch up with friends for a tea/coffee, but I wouldn't rush back. Even though I disliked the food, I did only try the pancakes, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. Cafe 63 did have some positives, though
Very reasonably priced Friendly attentive staff Quick service Large cafe space Very extensive menu ( if that's...
