My experience at this cafe wasn't the best and I won't be returning. The food is over priced for what it is and the environment created by those in charge is fairly uncomfortable. I paid $7 for a bought in small cake, a price I would pay for a home-made sweet item on Pakington St! I had a salad which was nice but the serving size was small for the price of $19, again the cost of much better, more refined meals at a number of cafes on Pakington St. Overall the meal was average but the price I would almost call absurd considering the cafe's location and type of eatery it is.
I sat toward the back of the cafe and was near the manager's or owners of the establishment who had taken up a table as their desk/workspace. While having lunch I had to listen to them making business calls and talking to their staff - not a very pleasant atmosphere while trying to enjoy an already overpriced meal. It created a rather uncomfortable vibe within the cafe and is something that shouldn't occur - handle the business from a more appropriate venue like an office, one that isn't surrounding your customers! I honestly felt like I was eating next to a couple of mobsters the way they conducted themselves.
Then at one stage an employee, one of the cooks, came over to the gentleman and was openly complaining about what seemed like another staff member while referring to her phone, she then went over to the counter and continued to gossip with other employees. She appeared openly irritated by whatever had angered her; this just added to the already awkward vibe created by the managers working next to where I ate. I have walked past this cafe numerous times and have ALWAYS seen these same men conducting their business from a table within the cafe which really was uncomfortable to sit next to! One waitress then sat down with one of the men and was very unfriendly and acted almost arrogant!
I wouldn't recommend nor return to this cafe. Save your money and eat a meal of the SAME standard at Gloria Jeans or in the food court! At least the environment wouldn't be as tense and...
Read moreMy mum and I were at your care yesterday, Tuesday 30th at about 1.30, we ordered coffee. I am coeliac and asked the waitress if the lemon baked cheesecake was gluten free, as a lot of your cake range is. Without hesitation she said yes gluten free. I ordered one. Driving back home to Melbourne I became horribly ill and anyone who is coeliac or has a gluten intolerance will understand when I say, it is extremely painful. I could not make it home without having to pull the car over numerous times. When I did manage to make it home my partner was so concerned he wanted to take me to the Dr, he called the cafe to speak with the manager, but they were gone. This review is to make sure the manager gets the feedback.
I found out from the cafe that the cake was gluten friendly, not gluten free, I should of been told this. your staff need to be made aware of this and to inform their customers of what is 100% gluten free and what is gluten friendly which as a coeliac I would not have ordered it, knowing its a risk...
Read moreThe staff weren’t overly friendly and It was one of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had. Eggs over cooked, bacon soggy and not edible. Grilled tomato dowsed in oil and rosemary and thyme could not eat it at all it wasn’t even grilled. The hash brown almost dark brown on the outside and raw on the inside and had some weird things on the inside which should be mentioned on their menu incase people have allergies possibly mushrooms, thyme, feta? It was hard to tell but it wasn’t a normal hash brown, my husbands was just as bad the halloumi cheese was stale and old not even cooked the poached egg over cooked his tomatoes also swimming in oil and seasoning. Was very disappointed because the cafe looks cool which is what attracted us to go in. But yeah everything else was a let down, when the waitress asked how was everything we said not great she just took our plates and went on about her business. The owner couldn’t care less just charged us $45. Won’t be...
