Thai Food on Mary by Nana — Restaurant in Gympie

Been disappointed since moving to the area 18 months ago not to find nice Chinese, so when I walked past the shop and smelt how amazing the food was wafting from the shop, we gave these guys a try and have been back multiple times since for a few months now. We always get chicken pad Thai and the chicken satay peanut skewers and they are SO good! The skewers are 3 chicken tenders smothered in the best satay sauce I've ever had in my LIFE. $15 for those and $19 for the chicken pad thai, which again is chicken breast and tofu. As someone not into tofu, I can say I love it in their pad thai. So good. And they absolutely shove the pad thai into the containers, so the container is packed full, so they're not stingy with the amount of food for your money, like a certain Indian shop in Southside does 🙄 the staff are friendly and they have some Asian desserts on the table for sale too, although I can't read the labels so maybe some descriptive signs would help us know what each dessert is, which is the only reason I haven't tried any yet, since I don't know what they are. They look good though! The only downside is sometimes they're hard to get through to on the phone. One week it took 12 calls to get through, but the other night it only took one, so maybe there's issues with the phone sometimes. Other than that, they're great! I'm hoping one day they might sell that amazing peanut satay sauce they use on the skewers, 'cause if they do ill be the first...

Got pick up takeaway of ginger chicken, satay chicken skewers, and coconut rice which was fresh, delicious, and a large serving. The ginger flavour was exactly what I wanted! Lots of vegetables and large, juicy bits of quality chicken. I have travelled to Thailand and the flavours were authentic and more-ish. Personally, I should have gotten a larger serving of coconut rice as I had leftovers of the main chicken dish and no leftover rice to go with it.

Unfortunately, I removed one star for service/atmosphere as it seems they lost my order ticket. Despite waiting 30 minutes before picking up, we had to wait 15 more minutes as they rushed to complete an order. Overall, the experience inside appeared disorganised and quite chaotic. This doesn't bother me a great deal but it is unprofessional and may deeply impact another customer's experience or someone on a tighter schedule.

Overall, I would highly recommend and just warn that it may take longer for orders to be completed.

We went with Take away. I am a little critical of food I eat in Gympie. Not a whole lot of quality to select from. Not only is this in my top 2 restaurants in this town, This however I rate as one of the better thai restaurants I have ever eaten ( I have eaten a lot of Thai). I rate Thai orchid in Springwood sth Brisbane highly and it's many awards say the same, but this is of equal in taste and quality. Fresh herbs and spices. Amazing. Chicken Penang is next level. The only slight negative is it was a little low on meat content in the dish but the dish overall still lets me give it 5 stars.
