Visited today for lunch with a friend, we were almost through our meals and the man chef smiled at me, handed me two yellow plates over the top of the glass, with chicken kebabs on them, nodded at my friend (meaning one each) and then got back to work. Didn’t say a thing. I’m thinking, oh, that’s nice, because we come here often, he’s giving us a complimentary taste of something different! Awesome service! But, HELL NO. When we got to the counter to pay, I told here these were given to us from the chef, at no charge. She looked at me, then she looked at another lady customer, who looked a bit cranky. So…. she figured out WE were handed her chicken kebabs. Not my fault! I said that I shouldn’t have to pay for them, he handed them to me, and, it was something I wouldn’t have ordered in the first place. She went and asked the boss man, he said that he didn’t pass them to us, he was putting them on the train and I took them. He said we ate them, we had to pay for them. I told her they were handed to me. So I told her I would pay, but we won’t be back again. She said she doesn’t pass messages on. There’s 2 other sushi restaurants in town, who are not only cheaper, but they will be getting all my recommendations now, and our business. For 4 tiny strips of marinated chicken, you’ve lost loyal customers and I’m not afraid to tell all who’ll listen that you LIED and you are DISHONOURABLE. You know you...
Read moreThe sushi making is under nose at the sushi bar. Every detail of the kitchen’s operation is easily appropriate. But that night the presentation was widely inappropriate. The culprit was the middle age female (probably owner). About 10 minutes after we ordered ramen and we’re asking two sharing bowls while I was still talking to my friend, I was distracted from the chef complaining if he give me the bowl, he won’t have bowl for rice...
After we finished everything, we carried empty plates to the register. Almost immediately the middle age Asian lady began to give tutorial to the new staff, began to scold the girl, shaking her head ordering her to put the right dish on the bill, essentially telling her everything she was doing was wrong. She’s not yelling but in a such small place every words and every gestures was audible and visible. Rattled by the public humiliation, the girl went more and more into a shell. I feel sorry for her.
We left a bit traumatised, and I was angry at myself not having said...
Read moreFor everyone commenting positive feedbacks probably never been out of Gympie because anywhere else the sushi was way better than this place. Been to Japan and can't expect to have the same here, for sure. But what makes me very upset is that the "business" is cash only. That's very dodgy and it's unacceptable that they even allow this. I had to leave my phone at the "business" to get some cash back in my car... I leave 2 stars because I'm not from here either and I appreciate the brave people coming here and even open up a business, but can't accept bad quality and dogdy things... To don't talk about the service, I was hesitating to ask for something because I didn't feel comfortable in asking. Anyways, give it a go and give your own feedback. That was my...
