TLDR: Go to the Moonah Hotel instead. I attended for lunch on 13/9/25 with a dining party of 10 and ordered a chicken parmigiana with pepper sauce. I’m writing this review to document the poor standard of service we received at this establishment. Three members of our party never received their meals after an extensive wait, and one was only informed that the kitchen could not prepare their order after we followed up with staff. This lack of initiative and awareness was disappointing. Refunds were issued, which we appreciated, but only after we pressed for answers. When my meal arrived, it was missing the sauce. Staff assured me they would bring it to the table, but it never came. The same thing happened to another guest. In the end, we had to pursue the matter at the counter ourselves. Food was delivered with a dismissive attitude and a presence that implied resentment for being required to perform their role, and the staff member barely projected their voice to our group. As for the meal itself, the quality did not justify the $29 price tag. The crumb and parmigiana sauce lacked any flavour, the chips appeared undercooked, and the pepper sauce—once we finally collected it—was unpleasantly salty with the texture of thick yoghurt. It devalued what were already subpar fries and was hardly worth the effort of chasing down. I didn't, or couldn't, finish the meal. While I understand that venues can sometimes have off days where the food may not reflect their best work, failing to provide meals altogether falls far below the minimum standard of service. It’s akin to visiting a barber, waiting extensively, and then being told they don’t have scissors to cut your hair. Fortunately, this city has no shortage of pubs and hotels offering far better dining experiences. The Carlyle Hotel, unfortunately, now stands for me as a monument to inadequacy.

Decided to stop in here after a busy day to see what their meals are like. It had been years since my last visit and wanted to see how it's held up after all that time. Was greeted by friendly enough staff and the dining area was mostly empty so getting a table was easy enough. The place looked neat and clean. Chose the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad with some mushroom sauce. Had a beer and it came to about $30+ so reasonably priced. The schnitzel seemed a little on the thin side but didn't take away from deliciousness of it and the chips and salad were of good portions so a good meal overall, especially as the dressing on the salad was very tasty. Convenient with all the parking provided. You can also grab a meal at the sports bar and the menu had a few options to choose from.

You guys have gotta come hit up the Carlyle hotel. Great atmosphere, slept on a fricken super comfy king sized bed last night, super hot showers and lovely clean room! The guy Kas behind the bar was awesome! Right in the heart of everything to easily walk to.

Chose this hotel as we were hiring a car thus proximity to the CBD wasn't really an issue.||First of all, a thank you to the staff, they kept the hotel open for us even though our flight was late getting in (note to others this isn't a 24 hour check in place).||The photos you see on here are largely of the front suite and not the actual room.||The actual room though was fairly good, bed was comfy, room retained heat well and I was really surprised at how sound proof it was-there was a party on one night but the door between it and the rooms stopped the sound damn well. The reverse cycle air conditioner was good, the TV was a little small, weirdly the bathroom sink was in the room rather than the bathroom, the shower was strong if a little unsymmetrical in water flow, there was only a soap/shampoo mix not separate of each and I don't think there was a safe.||A surprising highlight was breakfast, they supply you with these breakfast boxes which you can put in your room fridge and that fully contain all you need for breakfast=food, drinks & cutlery. They are not small boxes either (filling) and there are different types available=we loved these boxes.||||One big thing I would say though is that we:||1. Didn't formally eat here=the meals looked average||2. Noticed on the fireplan how some of the rooms are much smaller/smaller bathrooms than ours=ask for a big...
