Seems like the quality here has dropped after the pandemic. I wonder if it's changed management. The crumbed scallops sold used to be sea scallops (large) without the roe, but now they're using bay scallops (small) with roe. Fish and calamari though not stale is definitely not as fresh. So if you're just looking to settle a little fish and chips craving, it'll do the job. There's free parking. Very casual indoor dining space available.

Always good food here. A little bit pricey for what it is, but worth it in my opinion. I always call in here when back in Tassie. Staff are friendly and wait time is never too long. Recommend.

I have not been to this shop for years , recently i went there to buy fisherman baskets it used to be good but to my disappointment it was so bad and tastless clearly they have new owners . I paid 24 dollars for two baskets ended in the rubbish bin the oil they cooked with was bitter has not changed for long time imparted bad taste to the fish , the crumbed coating on the scallops burned and not sticking to the scallops all the fish was frozen and tasted pretty bad , i will not be going there again that...

Chish & Fips is possibly an old stalwart of the northern suburbs holding on for its dear life. With its dated fitout and 90's feel cafeteria, it's almost like travelling back in time. I think there must still be a strong local support base keeping this old duck alive. But good on them. Originally considered quite expensive when they initially opened, their prices are quite reasonable today. Give them a try and maybe your grandkids will be able to...
