I got asked by my mum who is Indian what it was that we were eating and the only answer I could come up with was Praties. (After being Tasmanian for 16 years). It's a delicious treat with baked potato as the base and some sort of topping mixture (hot or cold) like roma (which is sorta like a Bolognese) or Paddy's lunch (like a irish stock pot). I am not into the cold topping so don't remember them. But I love this place for the 16 years that I have lived in Tassie.

SLAYYYYYYY! ๐Ÿ’ฏ10/10 practicality - why use plates when you could use foil and cardboard!!! Beautiful engravings on the knives, very short wait time, my Irish friend felt right at home here!!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ™

Foods good but the staff are always all about 14 and have no idea what they are doing when serving a customer. Went to parties being vegetarian out of their 10 options of hot toppings for a potato one is veg. Said I don't like curry and they reccommend the cheese and bacon potato. Told the 14 year old worker bacon is meat, I am vegetarian, vegetarians do not eat meat. Asked if they ever get other people who are veg wanting something not the curry, girl said they normally leave if they don't like it we don't have any other hot ones. Asked staff if the cold toppings could be made hot, got told no. Ordered the veg curry potato because I just wanted to be done with this and eat something, staff went out the back and chatted for about 10 minutes with 3 other workers then made my potato. Most unhelpful, unfriendly, knowledgeable staff at a business that handles food anyone could go to.

Don't get me wrong 9/10 the food is great, I like the cold potato's and previously have asked if there have been any other veg options and staff have been somewhat helpful, however it appears as staff get older and more experienced they outstay their welcome. Always new very young staff who don't care about...

A great location to go for a good jacket potato! Praties are Tasmanian owned and have stores in at least Launceston and Greater Hobart. There were more stores in the past but around half the stores were converted in to the House of Spuds store which are similar to Praties. The eat in meals come out very hot and the takeaway meals don't take long to be prepared. There is parking at the front and back of the store for both Praties and Chish and Fips patrons (both businesses share the same block). The fridge stocks Tasmanian-based drinks and Praties supports Tasmanians as much as possible through sourcing Tasmanian products and fundraising for Tasmanian-based causes. There is an ATM on sight for cash needs although Praties accepts cards. Pop in if you...
