Ginger brown is such a lovely local cafe, full of tenants from different age groups, locals as well as tourists. We ordered the corned beef benedict and it was one of the best Benedict I’ve had even thought I’m usually a bigger fan of smoked salmon egg Benedict. The poached eggs were done beautifully, the corned beef had a nice flavour, the potato hash was hearty and I loved the crispy edges. The best part was the pickled red onion, I’m a big fan of a good pickled veg and it hit all the right spots for me. The coffee was really nice too, and the waiters were attentive. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for fellow tourists if you are in the area, I wish I could come back to sample other dishes!

My favourite cafe in Hobart. I am a grumpy person when it comes to food. I really love here. So delicious food. Service is friendly but professional. I'm GF, egg-free, vegetarian. There are healthy options for me in Ginger Brown that I can't find somewhere else in Hobart. Absolutely my #1 Cafe..Coffee is little bit strong for me-but my husband loves it. Juices and other warm drinks options are good, too. The only thing I can recommend to the owner would be something like a water fountain that would soften the atmosphere sound wise( it might get so noisy). Some soft jazz/classical music maybe..

Im gonna do something different and post the empty plates to represent how much we enjoyed the dishes. When it came to paying, the staff at the cashier got all aggressive just because I asked why they charged 5$ instead of 2.5$ as it shows on the menu. Although I asked how the pricing would be if I add and subtract items 2 times beforehand and just asked why the side was $5, the staff replied: “no mate, the side is five, I couldve added more fore the eggs but I didnt”. Although I had took out the avocado to add eggs and halloumi. Still everything was great overall. Def recommend!

I used to buy coffees here often when I lived in the area - most of the staff are friendly and they serve their coffees with a Jaffa which is cute. I have brought family along for breakfast, and today I suggested it for a date with my partner. Unfortunately I will not be coming back. She ordered eggs on toast with a side of avocado. The side of avocado - which was $5 - was just half an avocado with the skin still on. They went to zero effort and charged a 500% mark-up. When you go out for breakfast you expect to pay a premium for very simple meals, but to my mind such blatant overcharging with absolutely no effort to value-add is an insult and just shows utter contempt for their customers.

When I raised it with the staff member who was taking our money, she had the gall to tell us "that's just what it costs". I could have gone to the supermarket 2 doors down from them and bought a full avocado for half that price and sat it on the plate. The cost of living crisis is hitting us all, but I'm...

all the waiters were very nice, then there was the food. there was floatys in the water , dirty cups & cutlery. the food was presented poorly the eggs were watery & tasteless. the bacon was hardly cooked almost would say it was raw. the beans tasted horrible was to many spices just made it taste horrible. the halloumi looked like a big yellow watery booger & that was also tasteless. i got told The mushrooms were garlic they were the complete opposite, tasted like paprika & were burnt so could taste that burnt taste. i am utterly disgusted in this place & would almost go the distance to say worst breakfast i have ever tasted before. the price for this meal was ridiculas considering the taste & outcome of this meal. last & not least the juice was 10 dollars & came in the smallest cup i have ever laid eyes on. said it was freshly squeezed it was absolutely not it was mostly water i could taste. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND this place what so ever. utterly disgusted & very disappointed ginger...

Absolutely love their Brown Benedict and Slow-cooked Lamb. Place can be packed during peak hours and the weekends so I recommend getting there early. Service can be really fast or slow depending on the crowds. Recommended place for a nice brunch.

Updated review: They've changed the menu significantly and removed some of the really good stuff. The new souvlaki bowl tasted weird; clashing flavours that don't work together, beans and roast pumpkin? Some coconut tzatziki thing? Sorry but it just tasted odd.

My friend and I are regular customers and would always order the previous slow-cooked lamb salad bowl. Unfortunately, with the menu's revision, we will have to look towards other brunch places because the food just didn't really work out. Their old lamb salad bowl was just superb, which got revised to a burrito bowl and then completely removed.

Credit to where it's given, their coffees and pastries are really good. Would come again if the old stuff are...
