This place is exceptional and truly amazing with the pictures speaking for themselves.
We stayed in the garden suite.
We had a busy start landing in Brisbane around 30 hours before from the uk, then we headed out to Tassie mostly for work but we had 2 days of relaxation at the Islington hotel beforehand.
It was a very welcoming stay from the start and the hostess Karen-Ann and her team were brilliant helping us with our bags as we arrived.
We were early for check in which we knew but late for breakfast never the less Karen-Ann sat us down outside in the sun and made us a much welcomed coffee. After a little sit down we called an Uber and headed off to Mona which was a 20min drive (well worth a visit!).
Coming back from Mona completely knackered we chilled for a couple of hours before heading back out to the landscape restaurant next to the docks for an early evening dinner being a 5 min drive (Again well worth a visit).
Getting back from here we were soo ready for bed. The bed was soo comfy and the sheets very clean and silky to touch having one of the best night sleeps I personally have ever had.
Me and my partner love good showers and the Islington didn’t fail us offering up good water pressure getting us revitalised and ready for the day.
We headed up to breakfast and the food was fantastic offering up pastries, yogurt, cereal and homemade fruit toast which was to die for. This was followed up by your choice of cooked eggs and bacon again with fresh coffee.
Come 12 we had planed lunch at the restaurant opposite the cascade brewery, we didn’t book just thought we would go and see what was what. On the way the the uber taxi driver advised us of a walk that you can do leading down to the brewery through the bush, why not, so he drove us up to the top of the hill and off we trotted. It was a circa 45min walk down the mountain to the back of the brewery seeing plenty of wildlife including 2 kookaburras. We didn’t to the tour of the brewery as we had done too many in the past but the view of the brewery from the restaurant was epic offering up paddle board tasters and good food. This is all circa 5 mins from the hotel.
Following this we just needed downtime getting us ready for the next few days work. The room is relaxing and quiet and we just chilled ordering take out pizzas in the evening. As we come up to collect we bumped in to Karen-Ann who offered us to eat at the tables in the restaurant which was lovely next to the fire.
The next morning we had breakfast and checked out saying good bye for now but I think not forever, if we are back in Tas we would stay here again. I’m not sure we would look anywhere else!! We went on to the Tasman hotel just down the road which was equally as nice but more corporate and a lot more busy.
Thanks guys it was amazing....
Read moreMy partner had arranged a birthday surprise for me with a stay at The Islington, a place I had eagerly anticipated due to its reputation for a relaxing environment and top-tier service. However, our initial encounter left much to be desired. When we buzzed the front gate intercom, we were met with an ungracious "who are you" from the speaker – not the warm welcome we expected. Inside, we were confronted by the same discourteous individual who promptly requested our license and credit card information. For an establishment boasting a 5-star status, this was far from our expectations, making us feel uneasy and questioning our choice. The situation continued to disappoint when the same staff member gave us a brief tour before directing us to our room. Upon entering, we found a cheese platter wrapped in cling wrap and laminated signage marred by unsightly marks. At this point, my partner's frustration had reached its peak. He had paid well over a thousand dollars for our stay, and he believed that any other hotel in Hobart would have provided superior service at a lower cost. In an attempt to address our grievances, my partner sought out the same staff member but found him absent. Resorting to a phone call, he expressed his disappointment, but instead of an apology, he received a response that left much to be desired – an offer to leave, with the stipulation of contacting Luxury Escapes for a potential refund. The entire experience left us disillusioned and questioning the 5-star rating. Three stars at best, especially given the quality of service provided. While the grounds were indeed pleasant, the interior furnishings clashed with the building's heritage, giving the impression of hurried assembly from an IKEA catalog. In summary, I would caution anyone considering a stay here to think twice before investing their money in an experience that falls far short of the advertised luxury and...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the Islington for our 15th wedding anniversary. Whilst our impressions of our stay may be inflated by being our first trip away sans children in 12.5 years, we are confident that anyone would agree with our experience. To say that it was a magical experience would be like saying Nicholas Cage’s performance in “The Rock” was only okay. This place blew our minds (and souls). Set in the foothills of Mt Wellington, our Garden Room was tranquil and peaceful. Whilst disappointed our room didn’t provide a view of Cradle Mountain (it is after all, about 300km away and in a different direction), the crisp and clear blue skies gave us an immaculate view of Mt Wellington. The mountain called us, and on our first day we ventured up. Having 3 needy children at home, we chose the more cost effective option of getting an Uber up the mountain with the intention of a romantic walk down… which we did, resulting in very sore shin muscles and a cranky wife, when we struggled to get a ride back. Fortunately, our room provided an extremely comfortable bed to rest upon, and a large soaking tub to immerse in. The weather outside was as cold as a mother-in-law’s kiss, so the warmth of the fire was that much more inviting. Location is a little out of town, which suited us perfectly. Morning brekky was elite. Coffees on call- first class. I felt like I should have been wearing a monocle whilst staying there. I’m sure if you scroll though, you’ll find a negative review, but don’t believe that guy- he is an obnoxious swine with unrealistic expectations. Well done to...
