I visited this restaurant two days in a row—it was that good! The first night, I went for dinner with colleagues, and the flavors impressed us so much that we ended up booking it again for lunch the next day. For dinner, I tried the Veg Nachos, which came with tortilla chips topped generously with cheese, chili beans, sour cream, and guacamole. Each bite was delicious! We were also lucky to get $12 Margaritas that night; I ordered the Spicy Watermelon Margarita, which really lives up to its name. It was incredibly spicy, thanks to the jalapeño-infused tequila, but the mix of orange liqueur, lime, watermelon, and agave made for a unique and memorable drink. My colleagues tried other cocktails, and each of us was impressed with the variety. I also had the Charred Corn with lime cream, grated cheese, and paprika. It was alright, though not as standout as the other items. But it was still a nice addition to the meal. For lunch the next day, I tried the Veg Burrito, filled with mushrooms, halloumi, beans, slaw, rice, chipotle mayo, salsa verde, and guacamole. It was absolutely delicious and filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients. The burrito was well-balanced, and every bite was satisfying. The ambiance and service were excellent on both visits. The restaurant has a unique charm, decorated with antique pieces like paintings, flags, and souvenirs, which gives it a memorable and welcoming vibe. Overall, it’s a great place with delicious vegetarian options, creative cocktails, and a fun, eclectic atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We came here with friends and it was taco Tuesday, which means all tacos are $5,5. We ordered different tacos: vegan miso mushroom, cauliflower, beef, chicken, pork and halloumi and we were all pretty much on the same page about the flavour of all of them being too bland! Except from the hot chorizo and pork ones. Hot sauce was perfect according to the spicy eaters. The tortilla was nice, fresh and warm when served but the fillings lacked taste and were too small. Chips were great, think, crispy, warm. Guacamole and corn chips was ok and the corn cob was boring and definitely not worth $9,5. Many vegan options available which is awesome! Cocktails and mocktails were great but a bit pricey as well, around $20 each. Service was good, staff was friendly and quick to find us a seat and take the orders. I don’t think I would order tacos again but I would try some other sides and dishes as I’ve seen some good reviews about them.

Was highly recommended by the rum bar next door, Rude Boy. Not just them but by a few bartenders I’ve met around Hobart too. When bartenders are raving about this place, you know this place has to be good. Truth be told, I love my tacos and Mezcal. Hence, my picks below. Mexican Jewel - Such a well thought through and creative cocktail that came with a grapefruit toffee. . Battered Flathead Taco - Proper tacos house made, not store bought. Crispy battered fish with a light and tasty dressing/garnish. Loved it! . Los Agaves Green Label Mezcal - Was checking out the various Mezcal bottles and noticed this gem. Hard to source, strong in flavour. Think of chilli, lime and liquorice. . Special thank you to Leah for the great hospitality. Sincere, fun and knowledgeable. A trip to Grinners Bar is a worthwhile and highly recommended! Thanks team

The food and drinks at this bar were great, but the service was shockingly poor.

From the start, we noticed the group of women next to us received frequent attention, while we had to wave staff down just to be served. Not once were we checked on, even when our glasses were cleared—no one asked if we wanted another drink.

The first real issue was a 30-minute gap between my friend's meal and mine. By the time mine arrived, his was cold. We brushed it off, assuming they were understaffed.

Later, I waved down a waiter and asked, “Can we get a margarita jug?” He said “Yep” and walked away—no questions, no confirmation, no clarification on the type of jug. We sat confused until another waiter noticed us and kindly followed up. She was helpful, explained the wait, and took our proper order—though she wasn’t even our server.

A few minutes later, the original waiter returned, asked if we got our jug, then sighed when we said someone else had taken the order. He said both had been placed and he’d canceled his.

The apple margarita jug was great. As we finished it, we ordered two tequila shots and another jug. The shots came quickly but with no water, lime, or salt—not a big deal, but we weren’t offered anything to wash them down.

Then we waited 45 minutes for the second jug. I eventually asked at the bar, and the waiter claimed we never ordered it. I explained we did, but he kept insisting otherwise—until another staff member confirmed the order on his iPad.

We paid and left after that. At checkout, the waiter let out a dramatic sigh and said, “Yeah, sorry about that.”

We were excited to visit, and we understand public holiday stress—but this was another level of...

Grinners Dive Bar worse neighbour, unhappy- Very inconsiderate man where do I start

If you are studying this venue is a nightmare across the road from Student Accommodation and the Council does not care, unacceptable noise levels in inappropriate hours especially on Friday and Saturday as Grinners does not 4 in the morning which means you get no-sleep. It is worse now since patrons have been permitted to go into the street. I can't be the only student that wishes this venue was either moved down the street, or it was sound-proofed not that neither the Council or government here cares. I try to get to sleep and all I hear is intermittent humming noise and loud chatter from Grinners, when does it end. If you hopefully perform reasonably well as a student Grinners is a nightmare. If it is not bad enough the drunk people wondering the streets at night. Grinners is as bad as it comes unfortunately. If you want sound-cancelling ear-phones that will set you back $200 which is more than most people including myself as a poor student have spare. The non-sensical noise restriction that the local government has set in Hobart's not adequately bad. God do I envy the folks on the top-floor in Student Accommodation. Grinners and other drunk people made me withdraw from my...
