The food was good. Came out super fast, though parts of each meal were very cold. 2 stars because though they had a prosecco and a chardonnay on their drinks menu they had neither available. The barman offered for us to buy a bottle at their bottle shop to bring in with a corkage fee. Husband went off a got a $20 bottle only to he charged $15 corkage! This was not BYO as I did not bring in a bottle as a preference for a certain wine but as a necessity as they did not have the two types of wine i drink available despite it being on the drinks menu. What was the corkage for? It's a pub - order at the bar, get your own cutlery etc. We should have not been charged corkage for their lack of wine available and we bought it from their bottle shop - ridiculous. I'm middle aged , I've never been in a pub that did not have chardonnay or prosecco!! What's...
Read moreThe location, atmosphere and drinks are all excellent. I have just consistently been disappointed by the food. Previously I've been served tacos that were too salty and sour to eat. Last night, I got my hopes up after I saw that the menu had been updated. I ordered the pork chop with apple chutney, and I'm sorry to say it was simply awful. The pork was dry and unseasoned and sitting on a very weird 'chutney' that consisted of soggy pieces of apple (with skin on) spiced with what tasted like way too much Keen's curry powder and vinegar. My partner ordered a medium-rare steak, which came out well-done (and I don't mean well executed). There wasn't even a hint of red. I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but I'm invested in having a local hotel that serves decent food along with its good ambience and drinks. Please...
Read moreI was last here in the "Mustard Pot" days, and it always felt a bit run down then, this was my 1st time going here for dinner since it was renovated into the Moonah Hotel.
The layout was similar to how it was before, but much nicer, I liked that it still kept the pub feeling (Some venues update and then start to feel more like a cafeteria. Not so here).
I like that we didn't need to mess around, our reserved table was waiting for us with a sign so we could just show up and sit down.
I also like that you just walk up to the bar to order, in the hour I was there there never seemed to be a massive queue ordering so they did a good job keeping the bookings spaced out.
The food came out in a good time and was really nice! We also had some cocktails and they tasted great.
Recommended location was a nice pub...
