My friend and I visited The Hangout Café for lunch, and even though it was a busy time, we were pleasantly surprised to get a table right away. We ordered a serving of chips and two burgers – I went for the spicy fish, and my friend chose the spicy chicken. The chips came out first and were absolutely delicious – fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. We could tell they were made with care. The restaurant seemed quite busy, and it looked like they might have been short-staffed (possibly only one chef working), which meant our burgers took a bit longer to arrive. Since I had to head home, we asked to take our burgers away. When I had my spicy fish burger at home, I was genuinely impressed – it was super fresh, flavourful, and just the right amount of heat. Despite being busy, the staff did their best to provide good service and quality food. I really appreciate their effort and would highly recommend The Hangout Café to anyone looking for a casual and tasty meal . I’ll definitely be back!

I came to Hobart all the way from Sydney to try some international cuisine and landed upon The Hangout Cafe. I looked at the menu to see typical Nepalese foods in one section of the menu while in another there is choice for varieties of continental cuisines. So if you are an Aussie trying to play it safe you can get some other options as well. I tried their special "Sukuti Chowmein" which was a mixture of Nepalese spices on a spaghetti with slices of buffalo jerky. That really stood out for me. Plus, the customer service was nice. The staffs were looking out for you incase you needed any assistance. Overall a 10/10 experience. Would visit again if I come back to Tasmania.

The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is amazing and friendly, and best of all, The food is amazing, my partner always has and says the Philly steak cheese wrap is so juicy and rich in flavour, get it with a side of loaded fries and spicy crispy popcorn chicken and it’s an overly satisfying meal! I love the Chicken and mushroom risotto, it is also a must try! Our favourite drink to get is the brewed chai, but all the drinks we have tried are so tasteful and satisfying. The Hangout Cafe is a must try (and return) cafe if you are in need of a hearty meal, relaxing coffee to rejuvenate yourself. Or just need a place to hang out with friends over a meal. Great Job.

The reason my overall Review of this Restaurant is so low in comparison to the higher Food and Service Reviews is due to a recent meal I ordered online from here. Usually the Food and Service is excellent, but one set of shortcomings can impact the overall perception of an establishment quite negatively.

I ordered the Shakshuka. A dish that is, traditionally, Eggs baked in a spiced tomato sauce, usually incorporating onions and capsicum that, when cooked, has the overall consistency of a thick sauce with baked-jammy eggs. Often paired with toppings and/or Bread.

What I received today had the made components but the overall finish was that of soup, not shakshuka. I'm assuming someone did not check the shakshuka upon putting it in the bag, but it was undercooked. one of the eggs was partially cooked while the other was all but raw. The flavour was still excellent but I can't ignore the texture being way too loose, nor can I overlook the health and safety violation that comes with serving a customer raw egg that has been sitting in a warm container for a period of time.

Usually the food and service at Hangout Restaurant is Excellent. Today, it was not. I was severely disappointed as I had never had their shakshuka before and was keen to try it.

Hopefully they can do better in future so as to provide a nicer experience for...

The Hangout Cafe and Restaurant is a great place to go for a casual meal with friends or family. The menu features a variety of classic cafe fare, as well as some more unique dishes. The coffee is roasted in-house and is delicious. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Hangout Cafe and Restaurant with my family. We started with the breakfast burrito, which was packed with eggs, cheese, beans, and salsa. It was delicious and filling. For our main course, we all had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly and was so juicy and flavorful. The chips were crispy and the salad was fresh and crisp.

For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse. It was rich and creamy and the perfect way to end our meal.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Hangout Cafe and Restaurant. The food was delicious, the coffee was great, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for...

Whilst visiting Hobart we happened upon this absolute gem of a restaurant. Saw all the amazing 5 star reviews and decided to try it. It was SO good! The owner/chef is such a lovely and kind person and went above and beyond with recommendations from the menu. The vegetarian momo platter was absolutely divine - we especially loved the chilli/tomato ones. The flavour explodes in your mouth, truly! Everything was so fresh and you could taste the love they have put into every dish. The appetiser we got (can’t remember the name but was fried onions and veg in a fritter) was a standout. We also had the noodles, biriyani rice and veg curry. All were spectacular. And the mango lassi was the best we’ve ever tasted. First words out of our daughter’s mouth when we left - “that is my favourite restaurant EVER!” (And she is a 10/10 fussy eater). Coming from Melbourne and having tried a number of Nepalese restaurants in the past, this was hands down the best. Thank you so much for the beautiful food,...
