Rather than do a sit in I decided to takeaway, mainly so I could see the amount you got and how it was presented.
Not much of an atmosphere going in. It seemed like they couldn't be bothered...but not rude or overly unfriendly. I ordered the Bento Box 3 which consisted of Fried Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, Steamed Rice and what I presumed was a version of Japanese Cabbage Salad. It came to about $20 and didn't seem much for the price. But this was somewhat an illusion as it turned out to be quite filling and had plenty of flavour to me.
I'm not sure what the other Bento places are like but will have to try one to see what, if any, difference there is when it comes to the atmosphere...
Read moreI used to eat at this store often as I work in the chemist a few doors up. Today I ordered an avocado roll to take away, upon the order being made, I noticed something.
I noticed the woman preparing my maki roll slap a sloppy handful of brown (not off-green), if not black avocado onto the bed of rice.
I asked politely if I could perhaps have some of the fresh green avocado right next to the brown diarrhoea looking sludge she was trying to pass off as avocado and was sternly refused, as that was 'tomorrows avocado'.

Read moreI have been a regular of Bento Moonah for several years and it has almost become a second home. I often wonder if I should take shares in the business. The consistent quality of the sushi is what compels me to come back time and time again. I have never left there feeling mediocre. The space has recently been renovated and has a very intimate feel about it. The service is always prompt and efficient. I have been to a number of other Bento franchises in the state of Tasmania and I can safely say that the standard of food does not meet the same level that the Moonah...
