I had ordered for pickup over the phone as place was closing soon and i made it to restaurant before they were closing in afternoon. When I got there we decided we wanted to dine in as there was still some time left before closing and i asked the staff if we could have our food at the restaurant we were told no dine in as they were closing which we understood and they said your food is already packed. So as we were leaving someone standing behind us (who wanted to order as well and had just walked in) heard that and they decided to leave as well, so as we all left the same staff comes out running wanting to check on people who were standing behind us what they wanted and they said they wanted to dine in but they heard dine in was close to which staff replied yes that's fine you can still dine in.Me and my friend were left in shock. That was just not fair to us felt like we were discriminated.I had come all the way from Burnie as my friend suggested this was a very good place and food is great but honestly I didn't really like the food not because of the way we were treated but it was just average.not a great place not...

It’s been 5 years and I have always loved this place and the staff. But what happened with me and my friends today was just unacceptable. Firstly the girl who was serving us was extremely arrogant. I don’t know why . I politely asked her if we can sit outside it was almost 4 pm and they were not offering dine in. That is understandable. But when I asked said can we please sit outside as we did takeaway and we don’t need anything but can we just sit. She simply refused saying it’s also dine in only. And after that while waiting a ausssie couple came and sat outside and she did not refuse them. How can someone behave like this I cannot understand. Even the takeaway food everything was on top of one another and literally by the time I got home all the curry was out of the box. We ordered 5 items and she literally packed it in one bag đŸ‘ŽđŸ» Didn’t expect such service. And this is the reason I gave 4 rating to food because food was actually good but the service...

Simply outstanding food!!! Our lovely neighbours 2 doors up, who are from Kolkata, recently excitedly recommended that we visit Spice on Wheels in a tiny shop in Newtown. They told us they had found themselves stunned to speechlessness to have found the best most authentic Western Bengalese food in Australia a few blocks away. We are grateful for their recommendation and have been mightily impressed with the food, service, ethos and attitude of the Spice on Wheels family. We have been into the shop 5 times now trying different things each time for dinner at home or samosas to add accent to guest visits. Each of us has fallen in love with dishes already. For one the Biryani is sublime. Another fell for the Cholle Bhature, the third the Vindaloo. This family and their restaurant deserve the devotion they are generating. Treat yourself to Spice On Wheels meals and enjoy. Lastly thank you to the SOW family, we are so glad you branched out. See you for...

Last night, we dined at Spice on Wheels, and while the ambiance wasn't the most appealing, the food more than made up for it. It's not a fancy spot, but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our large group of 22 people. Despite the size of our party, the service was efficient, and all of our dishes came out surprisingly fast. Every plate we tried was delicious, with plenty of flavorful vegetarian options available. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable, making it an excellent value. If you’re looking for fantastic Indian food without breaking the bank, this is the place!

We have been there a few times, love the north Indian street food options. Chole bhature (deep fried flat bread with chick pea curry), mixed chat (samosa, aloo tikki, papdi in yogurt & tamarind chutney) & pani puri are our favourites. Their menu has lots of other Indian dishes - curries, rice, naan etc. We also loved the mango lassi (mango & yoghurt smoothie). There are indoor & outdoor seating. They are located at Newtown, short drive from Hobart cbd, or public bus. They are open for lunch only on weekends & dinner everyday. They also do delivery.

Very very happy with our takeaway meal today. Had Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosa Chaat and Gulabs. Excellent sized servings and great value for money. 2 large dishes and 2 large rice plus the entre was way more than enough. At around $15 a head for a quality meal, this place is definitely worth a go! Had Indian food yesterday at a fancy looking restaurant but were left dissatisfied. Thankyou Simran and team for turning it all around for us!
