New Town Greenstore Café — Local services in Hobart

Came on a weekday for brekkie and absolutely loved it. It's a very simple unassuming place, so depending on your perceptions of a cafe you will either love or it or not.

I was served by an elderly gentleman whose initial reticence was, I feel, simply shyness. I tried a dish of roasted mushrooms on sourdough that was in my opinion, excellent. The mushrooms were generous in portion, flavourful and a little crunchy. Served on thin slices of sourdough. The portions were very nicely balanced and I even had room for a lovely dessert after.... for breakfast yes.

I'm a business owner and understand the pressures of starting a business to follow a dream. It's not necessarily easy at any time, particularly now (and in the hospitality industry) to make a go of it. This business is working. I drop in and now have my weekly business coffee meetings and some private meals. The service is A1 and friendly with a smile. I honestly love this place, it's not fussy or fancy, it's busy but the service is much better during the week. The waitress we had today was really disengaged, very little conversation from her, in fact none & her manner was bordering on unfriendly. I observed a few hygiene "breeches" but honestly couldn't be bothered raising them. Food was good, prices are creeping up a little & portions reduced though so makes it a little bit of a think before ordering menu. Coffee was okay. I'll go back but not...
