In one word - Spectacular. I have been coming to Taj for the past 16 years and have loved every single meal. I have had birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions and celebrated almost every holiday at the venue over the course of my patronage.
After moving away from the area for work I found I was constantly searching for an Indian restaurant that would have the same flavour profile and a similar atmosphere but in all my travels I am yet to find a restaurant that comes anywhere close to what Taj is consistently providing.
From the absolutely stellar food to the professional front of house staff it is always a pleasure to walk in the doors and be greeted like family, treated like a diplomat and fed like a king.
On a personal note what a privilege it has been to see a literal passing of the torch between generations of chefs and owners. Watching the menu, service, decor and amenities continually improve over time shows how important passion within the industry is. A true family owned and operated business.
The recent renovation is very tasteful and has really opened up the space, which now pairs perfectly with the updated drinks menu serving a range of familiar favourites to specialised local ales and wines from throughout the shoalhaven region. The menu really showcases what great products like minded businesses are producing.
Finally, If you're a fellow lover of Butter Chicken please try the Butter Paneer as well, Taj has really opened my eyes to vegetarian and vegan options that are just as good if not better in some cases than their meat...

The moment we entered the restaurant my spidey senses started tingling and I knew we were in for a treat. āCurry up and orderā I said to myself. When the multiple aromatic bowls of spiced goodness hit the table I unsheathed my fork wondering if there would be a winner. But alas, there was no clear outcome to this battle, with each dish being a well balanced rendition of Indian fare as good as the last (a special mention to the Chicken Bhuna which was just perfect). āJai Ho!ā, the meal was victorious in satiating my craving for good Indian food. A Bollywood dance across my tastebuds.
Last but not least, what is an Indian dinner without breads? I ordered the garlic and cheese accompaniments naan-chalantly, and all I can say is OMFG (oh my fluffy tandoori baked goodness).
Taj is an example of know what you do and do it well! Hands down the best Indian food on the Coast, and definitely worth the visit. A Dahl-ightful experience that will Tikka all your boxes. Taj will have us Cumin again for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took a takeaway on Christmas day from Taj Indian. Taj Indian was one of the very few shops open on Christmas day. Given the crowd that descended on Huskinsson for a nice Christmas picnic, it was unsurprising that they were fully booked. Fortunately, they accepted our order for take-away. To me, the prices seemed a bit on the higher side but given that it was Christmas and the staff was working over a holiday to serve, I feel they were acceptable. However, after I tasted the food I came to the realisation that it was worth the penny. I ordered Palak paneer and garlic naan and I paired it with mango lassi. The Palak Paneer wasn't spicy or dripping with oil-my pet peeves with most of the palak paneers I've eaten in restaurant. The consistency of the gravy was smooth and the spice proportion was balanced- not too high to mask the taste of spinach and neither too low to seem bland. The garlic naan was soft and large. The lassi tasted fresh. The tanginess of the yogurt was blended with the sweetness of the mangoes. I found the portion sizes to be generous- neither myself nor my friends were able to finish our...
