I would of loved to have given 5 stars as the food was AMAZING! My husband and I came in for our date night dinner. We started with garlic bread and the chilli prawns for entree, followed by steak with chips and salad for our main, and then dessert of sticky date Pudding and a chocolate bowl. And OMG! So good!
However, what has brought me to give 3 stars is what we witnessed whilst dining here.
The female owner Sharon, decided that pulling up staff for their incompetence was appropriate to do so infront of customers, not sure how regularly this occurs but can only assume if it occured tonight it has occurred on other occasions.
I've worked in the service industry in the Royal Australian Navy for many years and not once have I ever witnessed such unprofessional behaviour. I have since left the service industry and am now a nurse, but I will always be a voice for wait staff who are mistreated.
I could see how embarrassed Maree and Cooper were and given that they are new staff, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't last long at this business, I certainly wouldn't stay to be treated in such a manner infront of customers.
Whilst on the subject of Sharon, you are in the service industry, a smile goes a long way, however we didn't see you smile once.
When my husband came to you to settle the bill you were completely rude to him and you are very lucky that I didn't say something then and there, he is a current serving veteran of over 20 years in the Royal Australian Navy, and definitely deserves to be treated better than how you treated him tonight.
You didn't greet him, you didn't smile, and when he said the food has been delicious and asked for our dessert to be brought out you didn't even acknowledge him, all you said was swipe your card, without even looking at him! SHAME ON YOU! You are what brought the atmosphere and our night down tonight. We know alot of serving defence members and family and I will definitely be passing this on.
Then we come to Tony, the male owner. Very blunt on the phone when making a table booking, and didn't let me know that the restaurant is a BYO alcohol over the phone, we were not informed of this until we arrived at the door, I guess this is a sneaky way of getting customers to purchase their drinks.
Whilst dining here we watched Tony pour himself a glass of red wine, which he then started to drink and then walked through the restaurant making small talk about the dessert to us, whilst holding the wine, which he then proceeded to take outside and drink and smoke at the table whilst the restaurant was still open, very unprofessional behaviour.
If the waitstaff read this, you are so much better than this, don't be scared to step up in the world and put yourself first, mental health is so important, and life is far too short, take care of each other, and always have your co...
Read moreWas really looking forward to a great steak looking at all the reviews - don't be fooled it's either hype or payed for.
Walked in after a movie at the cinema (great!!) And was greeted by a gent who had the attire and manner of someone who had been bouncing in Kings Cross for 30 years. Got told he could fit us in down the back and that the bottle-o was up the road. Bit odd but ok, let's eat!
First page of the menu is a list of rules....ok...corkage where half is donated is pretty cool but no external softdrinks, and corkage for birthday cakes as "we have cakes you can put a candle in", it's just very adversarial guys, not needed. I was expecting a sitting fee as well đ¤Ł
Ordered the tbone with salad, rump with veggies , and, calamari and chicken tenders for the kids. Steaks are great sized and great looking. Service was super fast, less than 5 minutes, sadly after starting to cook an adding salt and pepper, was told that "pretty much the only rule about cooking on the stone is no salt and pepper"...are you serious? I can't season my meat during cooking? FAIL. When I said I already had done one side and promised to add no more salt, the waitress looked mortified, like she was going to be beaten...she ended up just walking away flustered, it was really creepy.
The stone itself was always going to be a gimmick, but it didn't stay hot enough to put a crust on the beef nor had enough heat to last the 800gm t bone. Either need to adjust the portion, and the price, or find a way to keep the stone cooking. Kids enjoyed their chips but the tenders I'm pretty sure were chicken chippies and were extremely dry.
The atmosphere was really uncomfortable. The staff patrol the tables but don't check in or seem to care at all. One was mixing drinks on a bookshelf behind us. All of them.look completely unhappy and are VERY young looking. We only got a spark of happiness out of one older lady. Both my wife and I left feeling really uncomfortable and commenting that it was all very oppressive and unfriendly.
Well played guys you got us with your hype and gimmick. 2 stars for the quality steak that I wasn't allowed to season. Won't be back and...
Read moreINCREDIBLE FROM THE MOMENT YOU WALK IN! When it comes to food I'm a bit of a snob.... BUT THIS PLACE WAS BEYOND OUTSTANDING. As you're walking towards the restaurant, the good looking owner Toni, greets you with a warm welcome to our whole group, he makes sure everyone feels excited about the experience theyre about to have. AND I DO MEAN EXPIERINCE, because there really is something primal about having a raw steak on a volcanic rock at 300°C. No matter what time of the evening or late night night the service is what I would call second to none.
Marcus is the man and the soul of the restaurant, he literally takes the dining expierince to the next level, truly connecting and making sure everyone is looked after, if it's not the delicious food you come back for its usually his amazing stories and conversation, you never feel like you're at a restaurant.... you feel like you came to visit family.
The chefs đ¨âđł are always on point , we never waited on any meal and always the food comes out PERFECT.
FOR AN ENTREE: I highly recommend the oysters and rice with prawns
FOR A MAIN: Wagyu with Pasta salad and mushroom sauce
FOR DESERT: The sticky date is to die for
THE EXPIERINCE IS SECOND TO NONE. I have now become a regular and Having personally dined in many Michellin starred restaurants this place is deserving of at least one!
A massive thank you to the woman at the real heart â¤ď¸ of this place Sharon for always making sure we get looked after!
Come and EXPIERINCE what real family restaurant is ment to feel like....
Thanks again guys cannot wait...
