It's very much the same as all the other Market Organics in the Brisbane region owned by the same family. Good branding and a strong following. Great if you know what you want as the service here is either minimal or sketchy with vague people walking around not serving or with no knowledge of the products. They stock hundreds of lines of highly priced organic produce and products, some lines are local but most packaged items are imported with massive carbon footprints from the USA. Still, it's high quality and there are things I can only buy here, but, do your research as Organic and sustainable are becoming mainstream and more affordable everywhere including standard supermarkets. The cafe service is friendly but the coffee and food has been average since Market Organics took control of the internal cafes. There is an outside area which looked very nice with plants when they opened a few years ago but over time it has started to look dilapidated and tired. For some reason the outside and inside table areas are always sticky, dirty or messy even when there is no one around. Yet again the dirty empty tables were a turnoff when it was quiet with hardly any customers. It felt dirty and disorganised, very unwelcoming and in a time of COVID I want anywhere I eat to look and feel clean at the very least! The outside is nice to sit but there were dirty plates on half the tables outside too so I bought what I came for and left. It's hit and miss but still great for those organic...
Read moreI have been shopping at Market Organics at Ipswich for five years, but I’m really disappointed that many of the staff and shoppers at the store do not wear masks. I’ve tried to discuss my concerns with staff at the store but have simply been told it is not their policy - even though mask wearing indoors is mandated in Qld. Signage in the store encourages safe distancing and sanitising but assures customers that they won’t be required to show proof of vaccination to enter the store. I have queried why signage doesn’t encourage mask-wearing and have been told it’s ‘free choice’. It seems ironic that a health shop would not care enough about the health of their customers to at least encourage, if not require, mask wearing in their signage. We have 20 COVID deaths in Qld yesterday and the virus doesn’t discriminate. I now feel extremely uncomfortable going into Market Organics at Ipswich and will exercise my ‘free choice’ by opting for safety - and try to avoid shopping...
Read moreThe store itself is good but the cafe is bad. It appears the chef doesn't have a good understanding of how much food is sold each day. The cabinets are often full at the end of the day. So the food has to be covered, this includes sweets, sandwiches, salads, savoury slices ect. If you order food from the cabinet, it isn't fresh - if anything it is days old and you can tell. It's such a shame because the produce there is beautiful, it's such a waste. A chef should know how much to make each day for a cabinet. I used to work in a French bakery and if there was anything left over at the end of the day, the staff would take it home. The following day cabinet food would be prepared fresh again. The chef needs to reconsider the amount of food prepared each day. The chef is ruining that place. Or, it's either the owner/manager dictating how the chef should run the kitchen. Either way, something needs to be...
