It doesnt get any worse than this....
The worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant.
We booked ahead for a party of 11 with 5 kids 3 to 7 yrs at 6.30pm on Jan 4. We arrived at around 6.40pm, checked in and seated ourselves. A few minutes later I made my way to the line to order.
It took a long time to order (Maybe 20 mins) as one register was closed (covid distancing I assume) and the party in front kept letting other people at their table push into line, no biggie and by 7.25 I had ordered.
I only know I ordered at 7.25 because I went to ask where our food was an hour and a half later and was told I had ordered at 7.25. (Thats right one and a half hours) Shortly after that my children received their meals. Ours arrived 10 minutes later. By ours I refer to 5 or the 11 at the table.
We eat a little and wait for the meals for the rest of our party.... nothing. One of the other party members notes after coming back from a trip inside that it is now almost empty inside. I ask the other 2 groups at our table if they were at the end of the ordering line. They reply that there were plenty of other diners ordering between and after them. I go inside to see only our tables dockets remaining on the rail and ask why our friends are still waiting while those behind them have eaten and left. The only response we receive are apologies, and that many had changed their order to takeaway. I said "Then why are they not still waiting for their takeaway?" "You have moved others who complained ahead of us and left families with kids waiting hours for food with no communication"
Now 2 hours after ordering food begins to arrive, right as the staff start packing down tables and turning off equipment around us (amazing as we arrived at 6.40pm and have now been there with our kids for 3 hours) At no stage during the hours wait did any staff address the wait time with us. We were asked only around an hour after ordering if we wanted more water to our table. The others at our table received a refund. We did not. It didnt make the experience any less horrible for them and I didnt want a refund anyway.
I would love for Chris and the team to check the CCTV for the night and explain how the customers after us got their food in front of us? I would love to know what action is being taken to make sure no customers have to go...
Read moreIf you're in Airlie Beach and not eating at Jubilee Tavern, you need to reassess your life choices.
We rocked up with hungry kids and adult-sized expectations – and Jubilee delivered on all fronts. First up: the kids' playground. A glorious space where children can burn off energy while you sip cocktails pretending you're on a luxury yacht (cocktails, by the way, were phenomenal – fruity, strong, and highly effective).
We kicked off with the garlic cheese pizza entree – cheesy, garlicky perfection. Honestly, if that pizza ran for mayor, I’d vote for it. The kids demolished their burgers and grinned their way through the included ice cream like they'd won the lottery.
Then came the Mexican chicken parmi – a spicy, saucy masterpiece that I may or may not have wept over. I asked if they could make a beef schnitzel version (not on the menu), and they just said, “No worries!” and made it happen like it was the easiest thing in the world. That kind of magic doesn't happen every day.
Let’s not forget the garlic prawns with coconut rice – creamy, flavourful, and plated like it was destined for a food magazine. Just... wow.
Now, the real stars of the show? The staff. Genuinely some of the friendliest, most helpful legends we've encountered anywhere. Nothing was too much trouble, they had great energy, big smiles, and made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. If the food wasn’t already a reason to return, they absolutely sealed the deal.
Five stars, two very full bellies, and one very happy family. Can’t wait...
Read moreLet me embark on a journey with you, a journey which encompasses what I believe the definition of good customer service is. It was a normal day in Airlie, rather warm and sunny. I popped into my favourite tav - Jubilee Tavern, and experienced some of the greatest customer service of my life. The worker who served me, i believe her name was Bree, was bright and bubbly, offering a chat and a smile to every customer . Despite the rush that seemed to be happening, I received good customer service and very minimal wait times.
I WILL definitely be returning to this tavern and I pray that my experience will be amazing again, in such a way that lights up my entire week.
Thank you Jubilee Tavern, you have truly brought a grown man to tears by the impact you have left on me. I hope every worker in that joint continues to treat customers like royalty, as they...
