Colonial Palms Motor Inn — Restaurant in Airlie Beach

Dropped into this accomodation purely by accident and because I was desperate for a place to stay when fires blocked off main highway…. Absolutely shocked to have such an amazing experience, especially for the price during this inflation period! Accomodation is very clean, (comparing to even 5 star hotels cleanliness), the only thing I would really think that would make this place stand out is maybe the interior design could be more exciting, however the price would then go up!

But I would stay again even with my high expectations!!

Also dropped by the restaurant as we didn’t want to go far for dinner meal and I was beyond blown away how amazing the staff are (lady waitress and Irish chap), the lady went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and enjoying our night! From the table setting, to food recommendations, to frequent visits to our table and not being forgotten (things even fancy restaurants forget!!) and I was so surprised to have this kind of experience! The chicken parmi was delish and the pork belly bites!!! Fresh, colourful, well presented food and great selection of wines!! Compliments to the chef too!

This is all a huge understatement, but I really can’t believe the cleanliness and layout of the rooms at this motel — that only being one part. The staff here are beyond exceptional. You have Jamie and Sal, a very welcoming and warm-hearted pair who will help you and go above and beyond in ensuring you’re feeling okay and comfortable. At the reception, you’ll have Georgie and Sonya, two wonderful women who are way more than the usual ‘reception staff’. You ask them for anything and they’ll sort you out! Go have a chat to the beautiful lady on the floor! Her name is Wendy and she makes your dining experience a living paradise — providing your every want. Good old Adan in the kitchen — he’s going to kill me after he reads this — please go thank him for the dishes he makes. He is probably the most hard-working chap I’ve ever come across and he honestly deserves the world for all the effort he puts in to PERFECT your dish. As a team, you’ll find this bunch no where else in the entire world. They are truly one of a kind! Stayed one night. Hotel is not on the strip if you're hoping to go for a stroll in the evening.

The room was clean spacious, with one Queen and two Single beds. Adequate amount of tea and coffee in the room, though only one very tiny box of milk in the fridge.

Had dinner at the hotel. Waitress was polite and courteous, though woefully inattentive.

Seafood pasta was like soup in a bowl. Mussels in the shell were not cleaned well, and I had to reach into my mouth a number of times to pinch and remove bits of shell. Grrr. Prawns had tails attached so had to play with them too in my soupy dish before eating. My wife had the Ribs, which were tender, though fatty and dry. For a combined $80 on two meals, I wouldn't eat there again. Then there's dessert...

Ordered pie and waited at least 15 minutes, with only one other couple still in the dining room, before being told to return to my room as the dining room was closing. Another 15 minutes waiting in my room (now 30 minutes), and by the time it finally arrived, I didn't want it anymore. More money wasted on food.
