A little bit ordinary, even for a food court. I had garlic naan with two curries and rice: an allegedly "hot" chicken masala and a spinach dahl. Neither worth writing home about. After being served my curry and rice, and paying for the meal, I was told I had to wait 5 minutes for the naan, by which time of course the hot food on its metal plate would be cold, so I had to go sit down and start without it. Not only that, but I couldn't sit out on the balcony as planned because I was forced to wait around.
When the naan finally did arrive it was left in a bag on the counter, with the staff made no attempt toto let me know it was ready despite me being only two metres away. I had to come back and hang around at the front of the queue, with other customers glaring at me like I was trying to push in, to try to gain someone's attention to determine whether either of the (by now two) paper bags held my garlic naan, which they appeared to have forgotten about.
Not great service.
The small serves of curry came in what looked like a muffin tray, alongside a huge pile of jasmine rice — more than twice the quantity of the two curries put together. I hate wasting food but there was simply not enough curry sauce to make either the dry and cold rice or dry and cold naan palatable, so the remains went in the bin.
Not really worth the $20 (with a soft drink).
If I had known beforehand the naan would take so long, and that I'd have to hang about looking out for it, I wouldn't have...
Read moreYesterday we had Ubereats deliver food for my mother's birthday celebration from this restaurant, and I put in a request for them to let us know whether the saffron rice was gluten free, as it's not marked on the Uber menu. The food came, and to our delight, everything was marked clearly as to what it was and all marked gluten free. This is the sort of thoughtfulness that makes a business shine. I've rarely seen a business respond at all or so well to a Ubereats note. Thank you so much, Thali Contemporary Indian - your food is delicious. Mum said it was the best she ever tasted, and we look forward to visiting in person. The chicken Tikka Masala, chicken Dhaba and paneer Kadai that we ordered were all wonderful. The saffron rice was also a cut above the usual fare, beautiful flavour and not dried out at all! Recommended and excellent gluten...
