Finch Cafe — Restaurant in Katherine

We stopped there on our way to Katherine on a Friday morning. The place looked nice and it smelled good. When we entered, the place was really busy. We ordered, knowing we would have to wait, and then sat down outside. After 30-45 minutes, our drinks finally arrived. We thought the food would follow, but it did not. After almost an hour and a half, we decided to ask inside if the food was coming out soon, as it seemed like a long time to wait for breakfast, considering that some people who arrived after us got served before us and the place was not packed anymore. Turned out they had lost our order, and we had to place it again as they could not find it (even though we got the drinks, which means they had the order somewhere at some point). Anyways, they hastened it and we received our food shortly after. It was good, but not exceptional. We waited a long time for it, and got only apologies, and honestly it was not enough considering the wait. A commercial gesture would have been appreciated but was not even offered. We also work in hospitality, so we understand that things like that happen, and we don't like to complain, but it would have been normal to offer a discount or a coffee or something, just...

Nestled on Katherine's main drag, this cafe serves up avo on toast like it's going out of fashion. None of this smashed business, a full half avocado is served up on their signature dish which can be smashed on bread or smashed down your turret. Either way, it's good value for money if your looking to fatten up before hitting the highway for your next leg.

Alfresco seating out back means you can enjoy brekky while simultaneously copping huge amounts of Vitamin D in your face. Be careful of the wildlife though, Catbirds live in the trees above and will pounce on your food right meow.

Took me mate Chiefy there one day and he couldn't stop raving about the baked beans. These beans have got to be seen to be believed. Good size and girth, bathing in a jalapeño and sour cream sauce they will spice up your life like no other! If you weren't full of beans when you arrived, you will be after this flaming dish!

I came here on a Friday morning when it should have been busy with morning workers getting thier coffee but it was dead. That should have been my warning to go elsewhere however I ordered a coffee and breakfast wrap. I questioned the server if the wrap was freshly made as it was the only one left. She told me it was. I took the wrap back to my workplace and opened it a short time later. The wrap was hard and crusty on one side and soggy on the other, I was hungry by that stage so tried to revive it in the sandwich press. Not only did this fail to bring it back to life but one bite told me it was off and it went straight in the bin. I was tempted to take it back however I was so busy at work I didn't have time.
