I highly disagree with other reviews posted on Google and Facebook about Dragon Garden Restaurant Kiama. I recently dined here whilst on a business trip to the area and I cannot fault the quality of service and food.
During my time, I have travelled far and wide and I have been to numerous Chinese restaurants all over Australia and many do not compare to the overall quality and experience I have had at this local establishment hidden within the Kiama CBD. I was attended to by a personable and charismatic young man who took my order and ensured that there was nothing more he could do for me. The owner also greeted me and had a brief conversation.
As the old saying goes, never judge a book by it's cover until you've read all the chapters, there is many chapters missing to many negative reviews posted online about this restaurant. My suggestion is go and support this small business because you will not be disappointed with the experience. Food and service was first class. Dragon Garden will be my first preference when in the Kiama area for either...
Read moreLast night I had the misfortune of patronising this place ( I won't call it a restaurant) at the request of some close friends. Upon arrival we ordered drinks, entrees and main course. Some forty minutes later still no drinks and the entrees started trickling in. After my comment to the very young and inexperienced waiter asking whether they were brewing the beer ( Corona) ordered, we finally got the drinks. When my five companions had almost finished their entree I enquired how long before I got mine- a few minutes later it came. Generally the standard of food was extremely poor and reminded me of an horrendous experience some forty years ago at a chinese restaurant in Mollymook. I understand this establishment has been operating for some thirty years and the only conclusion I can reach is that there are a lot of masochists out there who patronize this place. I cannot fathom how, in this day and age, there are still places which give a bad name to the chinese cuisine irrespective of the region. Definitely not...
Read moreI visited this place with my cousin recently, and it was a pretty average experience. The atmosphere is pretty chill, nothing extravagant. We ordered a few dishes, including kung pao chicken and dumplings. The chicken was good but not spicy enough for my liking. Dumplings were okay, but again, nothing memorable. They could definitely improve on the flavors to make the food stand out more. The service was fast, which I really appreciated since we were in a bit of a rush. I wouldn’t call it a must-visit, but if you're around the area and looking for a no-frills Chinese meal, this place fits the bill. My advice would be to ask for extra spice if you like it hot – they tend to play it safe with the seasoning. Also, be sure to check out the lunch specials if you're going for something more budget-friendly. Overall, good for a quick bite but don’t expect...
