We had a great afternoon and evening on a cold and rainy Sunday. It was slightly chilly inside the restaurant but when we left we found the covered outdoor area was actually warmer than inside. It would be a better choice in winter if you didn’t want the fantastic table service that we received in the indoor restaurant section. Both the manager and our server Cass were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience better than just a casual visit to a bar or restaurant. People really make the experience and the staff here definitely added to our day. The variety of food was excellent and featured interesting spice and flavour blends. The Stracciatella and chilli oil combo was delicious as was the octopus and pomegranate. Beef tartare was fresh and different to the classic version and the Brussel sprouts had an interesting salty sweet dressing that added a lot to the dish. The let down was the crisp potato side dish which was a bit luke warm and not as crisp as you would expect for potatoes but still really moreish despite that, due to the flavourful seasoning. The wine was from WA, tried both the Riesling and Chardonnay and they were excellent and we appreciated that they were poured table side in nice quality Riedel glasses. We came for a few snacks to test it out and now want to return to enjoy the Chefs tasting menu or one of the Nom Nom events. Thanks...
Read moreWe dined for dinner. The staff were friendly, attentive and even explained their recommendations and the menu thoroughly. Everything came out in a prompt manner (possibly due to the place being 30% capacity). This place has so much potential and I wish them success in the future. Just my personal feedback to help them improve the experience. 1. The lighting at night is too dim and diffused/flat the colour of the lighting is also a bit pale. It creates a flat tone in everything we see which causes food to look unnatural/2d (no shadows/highlights). Try get a good food picture here and you’ll find it’s not easily upload worthy. 2. The food was excellent in concept and the menu is unique and fun; however, all of our dishes were overwhelmingly salty. Bread and garlic butter was too salty. Tartare had a salty base, with salted egg yolk on a side of salted potato crisps. (Too much salt). The same can be said for the beef pasta. The Brussel sprouts on the other hand, candied and too sweet. Perhaps the chefs palette was not as sensitive that night or their hands too strong when adding condiments. 3. I had no problems finding the toilets. But they are a bit of a maze, so perhaps better instructions or signage at the venue could help. Total...
Read moreI was craving a hearty breakfast after my 7 km morning run and so popped into Leederville, one of my favourite spots in Perth. I went for a wander and came across the servo, located in Electric Lane. It was at this point that I discovered that they serve breakfast.
I was really impressed with the venue. It provides table service and the staff are friendly and know the menu well. The atmosphere is really cool too - funky, modern and welcoming. Whether you're a family, a young couple or a singleton, it's got something for everyone. The menu has a variety of choices, such as Turkish poached eggs, the classic breaky burger, and the ever present 'eggs your way'. There's a good selection of sides too, not to mention a great selection of coffees and juices. I went with a long macchiato topped up.
After considering the menu, I opted for the steak heuvos rancheros (ranch eggs) with a side of mushrooms. I have loved Mexican food ever since I went to Tijuana, so this was a natural choice for me! The meal was fantastic. The flavours worked really well and the steak was a nice addition to a classic. It's the sort of meal you can really savour. The portion size was generous and great value for money. I will definitely be going back! Highly...
