We had a fab birthday lunch here for a friend on the last Sunday in January. Fitzy’s was the perfect venue to enjoy a pleasant, relaxing and laid back afternoon with friends and family. The place hums like a well oiled machine, making for a leisurely, stress-free dining experience.
The minute we walked in, I knew that we were in good hands. We were warmly greeted by the friendly maitre d’ and shown to our booked table, which was ready and waiting for us in an ideal spot in the middle of the main indoors dining area.
There both indoors and outdoors dining spaces. We sat indoors, which is a large, comfortable, and airy space with plenty of room to spread out.The decor is stylish, elegant and modern, yet homely with upholstered chairs and wooden tables that are large enough to easily fit all the drinks and the meals. The carpeted interior and high ceilings make for excellent acoustics. Strong lighting ensures you’ll never struggle to read the menu. These guys have thought of everything for the comfort and security of their guests, and they deserve full credit for this.
To add to the convenience, the clean and well stocked toilets are at the front of the dining area as you walk in, making them easy to find and convenient to access.
We used the Aust Venue’s Company’s app to do the ordering and earn reward points. I found the system a bit confusing though, because we still had to do it manually, as it were, place our order at the bar counter. But our order taker was efficient and helpful and in any event I still got my reward points. And it didn’t take very long for our meals to arrive. Between my wife and I, we ordered calamari with garlic aioli ($14), a Thai beef salad ($20) and a baby gem salad ($17) with croutons, corn and avocado. It was all delicious and beautifully presented to the table on stylish grey crockery. We couldn’t have been happier with our meals. And to wash it down, two glasses of wine.
Service is outstanding. The neatly dressed ladies in their smart black uniforms are a delight. They're friendly, polite and hardworking, and they made sure that everything ran smoothly for us from beginning to end. A perfect birthday for our friend.
There’s masses of free parking in the parking area, right outside.
Thanks Fitzy’s,...
Read moreNo Longer a Pub meal. EDIT: Because I can't write a new review, I have to edit a previous review where I gave 5 stars.
We visited last Friday evening to find the new menu had been introduced the week prior and were quite shocked by the substantial price increases, I like to order the 300 gram rib fillet with the surf and turf topper, the steak has increased from $42 to $54 and the topper from $12 to $15 making it a $69 meal and a $15 increase on one meal, I notice from reading other recent reviews that people still seem to rate this as good value, when I talked to the staff about the price hike it was mentioned that there was a fair amount of similar feedback from other patrons, for us as a family of 4 and factoring in a nearly 30% increase in meals drives us to not return until prices return to a more reasonable level, which may be never, and go somewhere else for our Friday night family feeds. To put things into perspective, this is now one of the dearest places to buy a 300 gram rib fillet in the greater Brisbane area and by far the dearest in the local area. Dearer than the, Breakfast Creek Hotel Norman Hotel Hogs Breath Beach House Lions Club Every other Pub that sells steak. The meals were good, and the staff were excellent, but the price increase is just a little too much to stomach, pun intended. I have been going to this hotel since I was a kid and this may very well be the last visit to the (Pub) restaurant. I understand that prices have risen for most things recently, but my wage certainly has not gone up 30%. There is a difference between going to a restaurant and taking the family for a pub meal, and that what Fitzy's is, a pub meal. (OLD REVIEW) Great feed tonight, everything was spot on and...
Read moreWell you sure left a bitter taste in my mouth for my 50th birthday. I came to celebrate with my sister and nephew for his 21st and had the worst night ever. What a shamble of a restaurant your manager runs. 1. Charged for a kids meal when it’s kids eat feee Tuesday’s ( still waiting for the refund and now have been charged another 2 meals when checking my bank Statement instead of getting a refund). 2. Kids meal sent out over an hour after ordered ( kids should be served as a priority) along with an entree that came out AFTER a main meal served. 3. Some meals came out to the table (about 5)and all other took nearly 2 hours to come out. One of the meals sent out wrong wasn’t replaced for about another hour. 4. For a booking of 28 people this is pretty unacceptable. The manager in duty was approached and blamed this on kitchen staff, I’m sorry but isn’t it the manager’s responsibility to make sure everything runs smoothly and accepts responsibility. Not in this case he was quick to blame others and not once did he offer any apologies to our group , instead leaving this to poor Hayley the waitress to go back and forth and deal with the nonsense. Hayley was the only positive I can take from this night as she was extremely pleasant at all times and handled the situation well. I live local to fitzys and thought we would book in there for our birthday dinner to support local, and have dined there before with good experiences, but you have lost my business. If the manager had of faced up to us and apologised maybe I wouldn’t be as disappointed as I understand everyone has bad days at work, but he wanted to hide away and not deal with us. Your restaurant will only run well with the right staff...
