Many of the reviews on here have said that Serrano's has gone downhill in recent times however, I usually prefer to try something out myself so I can pass my own judgement... I wish I had listened to the reviews.
My partner and I arrived at 6.55pm for a 7.00pm booking and were seated quickly. By 7.25pm, we had not been given water, no one had taken our drinks order, let alone our food order. About 15 minutes in I tried to catch the eye of a server, who came over and explained that she couldn't take our order as we weren't seated in her section but she would get the other server to come over. After another 10 minute wait I went up to the front (as I couldn't get any service at the table) and spoke to the original server. Again, she said she couldn't take our order as we weren't in her section. This caught the attention of "our" server, who came over and asked what was going on. I said that I understand and can see that they are busy but we have been waiting 25 minutes without so much as water or any service whatsoever. Whooooo she was NOT happy. She had to be the rudest, most unpleasant and condescending server I have EVER come across. No joke, in years of dining out in different countries, this girl was easily the worst service individual I have ever come across. Her initial response, in such a rude tone, was "can't you SEE how BUSY we ARE?!?!" And to then go on at me about how they're so busy, I have eyes can't I see that, there's three huge tables so "obviously" I'm going to need to wait, etc etc. I repeated that I understood but SURELY she could also understand that 25 minutes was a long time? Nope. She did not. She kept railing on so at that point, I was done. Thanks but no thanks, my partner and I left and went across the road to the pub where the service and food were excellent :)
If I could give zero stars, I would, thanks to the absolutely horrendous red haired waitress...
Read moreI am moved to write a review about Serranos, because I saw two bad comments about it, one being the food was tasteless and someone complaining about the staff. I don't know what is wrong with these people, but they must be one of those sour, complaining sorts that are determined to find fault with something when they go out. Either that, or they confused the place with Montezumas, which is also in the area. All the Montezuma restaurants I've been to have been horrendous! Maybe they went there instead?
Serranos Mexican Cantina is one of my favourite places to eat in the entirety of Brisbane, let alone Beenleigh! I love Mexican food, but nowhere else has really gotten it "right" except Serranos. Unlike all the other major chains, which just re-heats their pre-packaged frozen food in a microwave, (Montezumas in particular I know does this! We've had food served half frozen before) Serranos makes all of their dishes fresh and cooks them in this magical oven they have that makes everything amazing! The quality is always to die for, and the staff are ALWAYS lovely, and a pleasure to chat with. They never fail to make you feel at home, and they'll always try very hard to cater to your needs. If you're confused on what to order, or what anything is, they'll explain it to you happily. Whenever we have visitors, we always take them there. One of my nephews even said that he dreamed about the food for ages afterwards, it was so good! So yeah, that's my review, and I'll stand by it until I die! Don't mistake Serranos for Montezumas. They're not even...
Read moreWe came here for my partners birthday and must say I’ve never had such a bad experience… first drinks took forever to come out and we’re not very good… our entree of chips and dip came out about 45 minutes after we ordered. (Normally you get chips and dip straight away at almost all Mexican restaurants we’ve been to) we thought we’d order the mains as soon as the entree came out so we didn’t have to wait too long.. partner tried to order the chicken chimichanga but was told they had no chicken, when someone else at the same table ordered it about 15 minutes prior? So about 2 hours after we arrived “some” mains started coming out.. my friend across from me started eating his enchilada when we stopped chewing suddenly and pulled a large chunk of glass out of his mouth! We were all stunned to be honest. After this we found out their oven door had exploded throwing glass everywhere.. why they did not stop the service after this is beyond me? Anyway we all ended up leaving after less than half got their food.. we were asked to pay for just the drinks which I still think was unreasonable after the circumstances.
I can’t say I’ve ever had such a bad experience at a restaurant ever.. the staff just seemed so out of it and started crying after everything that happened.. I’m sorry but you’re not the one that almost swallowed some glass. I’m never going...
