WOW. The pizza at La Coccinella is INSANELY GOOD. Hands-down the best pizza I have eaten and my co-diners thoroughly agreed.
This is delicious wood-fired pizza, cooked in no time in a funky environment and a really friendly and welcoming team who have strived to bring something new and special to Manning.
We took ours to take away but it is a lovely spot to dine in. A super cool interior blending industrial with their signature pink hue which adorns their pizza boxes. The retro couch and easy chair made me wish I had made better choices for my furniture at home. Sigh.
We got three pizzas, all devoured in appreciative silence, which is rare for a pizza night in. I ordered a margherita and the addition of fior di latte is a stroke of genius. We also had a Diavola and an Il Carne which both had copious toppings. No stinginess on the meat at all! Around $25 for a pizza which is about standard for these parts, but other pizza places ought to be quaking in their boots as I think a swarm of ladybirds will be taking over soon!
Thank you and we’ll be back! GROS BISOUS...
Read moreAs other reviewers have said, the cooked base is soft, so I found rolling the pointy end over as you lift, helps to keep it all together. Ordered a "Porco" and "Hawaiian" for a dine-in experience with the family. I missed out on the Hawaiian as the kids demolished that! There's a testament right there.
There's a lot to like beyond the melt-in-your-mouth pizzas with their extra stringy cheese. There's an ambient dine-in experience, some easy-listening music in the background, comfy sofa seating while you wait, and great accents from the crew. That red oven is awesome, and a deserving centre-piece to this new shop in the Manning Hub (it can cook a pizza in little over 5 minutes).... Maybe the pizzas deserve the centre-piece status. Who can be sure, when it's all so good.
I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu choices. Who needs to go to Napoli when we have La Coccinella Pizza on...
Read moreWe went to the Manning Laneway festival and thought this place looked good for a decent pizza dinner so we decided to try it. They were doing some specials on mini-pizzas for the festival so we got 4 (3 + 1 free) and a garlic bread. We got 3 carne and 1 margerita. The carne pizza had good fresh toppings but had a soggy crust in the middle, even though it was freshly cooked from the stone oven! When I mean soggy, it was like eating a sloppy kebab :( The margerita was also fairly average and also soggy in the middle. Maybe the restaurant was having an off day? There are many good reviews of this place but I can't agree with the reviews after today's experience. The only good thing we had was the garlic bread which had a fantastic crust and was well made with fresh garlic, herbs and some sliced fresh tomatoes. For the price we paid I don't believe it was...
