Review: Alowishus Delicious, Maryborough. 6 May 2019
Superb! Excellent! Two words that immediately come to mind. ☆☆☆☆☆ I have been to Alowishus, Maryborough on at least 8 occasions over the last 12 months. It is consistently outstanding with a very high level of customer service, quality of food, awesome coffee and attention to detail in the preparation of a simple pot of tea. A pot of tea? You might ask? Sadly the majority of cafe's are generally clueless when it comes to the preparation of a pot of tea. Not so, Alowishus. Tea leaves, no less, in a heated teapot, thankfully. This alone is a widespread problem to tea drinkers everywhere. Rejoice! In Maryborough, your prayers have been answered. The staff are brilliant, ☆☆☆☆☆, out front and behind the scenes in the food preparation area. Everything is meticulously prepared and presented to a very high standard. Special thanks to Amy, the manager, Emily, Jaimie, Jess, Chris and all the other staff. I apologise, I cannot remember all their names. The coffee is delicious. Very smooth with a rich aroma. The fruit scones are sensational, even with the requisite Strawberry jam. They even taste wonderful with Blueberry jam or Orange Marmalade. Highly recommended! The venue is quite unique. Maryborough is renowned for its heritage buildings and old Queenslander homes. Alowishus is in an original Bank building however I won't say which Bank. It looks out on the beautiful gardens fronting the Town Hall building. If you have never visited Maryborough, call in and say hello. Particularly Alowishus. It is well worth the visit. p.s. Read moreMy wife and I visited Alowishus Delicious today after hours of local shopping. We were immediately taken by the size of the premises; it's huge! Open and airy, with well spaced tables and seating. The kitchen and counter are at the rear, adjoined by an impressive pastries/slices display case and refrigerated section housing takeaway meals and salads.
We ordered a chai latte, a flat white, a Pesto Roast Pumpkin Salad and a Vegan Mediterranean Salad. The drinks were excellent (to the extent we both grabbed another one before leaving), while the salads were decent without being extravagant. They were fairly standard in presentation and ingredients but, overall, tasted fine and filled our bellies. I will throw caution to the wind and say that the pumpkin looked and tasted boiled/steamed rather than roasted, which did offer a less exciting appearance and flavour. Disappointing if that was indeed the case.
The service provided by the two young ladies that waited on us was very good. They were friendly, helpful and enhanced the overall experience. Keep up the great work!
Overall, Alowishus Delicious offered many positives at an affordable price. We enjoyed our time there and will visit again when next...
Read moreI would like to score higher however, the negatives far out weight the positives.
Mothers day lunch was disappointing today. We had been excited for days to come to Alowishus Delicious as it is rated so highly. Firstly my daughter asked weeks ago if she could book for mothers day and was told the never take bookings for Sundays. We arrived just after 12 to find the only free tables had reservations!!!! Fortunately a table became free so we were seated happily. we found some menus, which were quire limited , ordered and began our extensive wait. An hour later I mentioned the wait time to a staff member who said they had a wait time of 40 minutes (we had already been waiting an hour)... 20 minutes later our meal arrived. my daughters eggs Benny with a chorizo came out and was delicious - except the chorizo was actually a kransky! my pumpkin and Haloumi salad looked amazing and the "thick cut" chips looked good too. unfortunately the chips were very cool and not thick and not crisp. my pumpkin was browned beautifully but as hard as can be - almost raw.
The best part of the meal was going to the French Hot Bread Kitchen...
