I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at 有串有饭was so appalling that I feel the need to warn others. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that customer service was not a priority. What was supposed to be a simple and enjoyable meal turned into a complete nightmare. Service – Slow, Rude, and Completely Unprofessional Right from the start, the service was atrocious. We stood at the entrance for several minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, despite staff members walking right past. Once we were finally seated, it took forever just to get a menu, and even longer for someone to take our order. The staff were disinterested, unfriendly, and acted like serving customers was an inconvenience.
When we finally managed to order, we were left waiting an absurd amount of time for our food. To be exact one hour, Instead of apologizing or offering an update, the staff avoided eye contact and seemed completely indifferent to the delays.
Food – Raw, Canned, and Ridiculously Overpriced
After waiting far too long, the food finally arrived, and honestly, I wish it never had. It was a complete disaster. Some of the dishes were barely cooked—one of them was outright raw in the middle, which is not only unacceptable but also dangerous. Another dish tasted like it had been reheated rather than freshly made, and the worst part? Several of the items clearly came from a can! It was obvious that the restaurant was serving supermarket-bought, processed food while charging outrageous prices.
For the amount they charge, I expected fresh, high-quality ingredients. Instead, I could have bought the same thing from the grocery store for a fraction of the cost—and probably prepared it better myself. The fact that they have the audacity to serve overpriced, low-quality food while making customers wait forever is beyond unacceptable.
As if the bad food and service weren’t bad enough, when it came time to pay, the restaurant conveniently claimed their EFTPOS machine was “broken.” This seemed incredibly suspicious, so I looked up past reviews—and sure enough, I found one from FIVE MONTHS AGO where another customer mentioned the same exact excuse. Either they are running a cash-only scam to avoid taxes, or they just don’t care about fixing their machine. Either way, it’s shady and unprofessional.
Final Verdict – AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was slow and rude, the food was overpriced and barely edible, and their payment system is highly questionable. It’s clear that this restaurant is cutting corners and taking advantage of customers.
Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that actually values quality food and good service—because this place certainly doesn’t. I will NEVER return, and I highly recommend that others...

From the moment I walked in, the warm lighting and cozy decor made me feel right at home. The TV played Chinese variety shows, the background music was chill, and for a second, I felt like I was back home enjoying late-night BBQ with friends.
🍽️ What We Tried:
🍢 Charcoal-Grilled Skewers – We ordered lamb, beef, pork belly, squid, honey-glazed chicken wings, and grilled pineapple. The smoky charcoal aroma was incredible! The meats were juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned, with a delicious charred crust. The honey-glazed wings stole the show—crispy on the outside, sweet and juicy inside. And the grilled pineapple? The perfect refreshing bite between all the savory goodness.
🍲 Pork Rib Soup (Kelp/Lotus Root) – On a chilly Melbourne night, sipping on this clear yet flavorful broth felt like pure comfort. You could tell it was slow-cooked with care—no artificial flavors, just rich, natural umami.
🍳 Egg Fried Rice – This one deserves a special mention! Loaded with luncheon meat and shrimp, every grain of rice was perfectly separated and infused with that signature wok hei. Chinese people don’t lie to Chinese people—BBQ spots just make the BEST fried rice! 🥹🔥
🦪 Garlic Vermicelli Clams – Clean, plump, and packed with garlicky goodness. The vermicelli soaked up all the juices, making every bite so satisfying.

Read moreExtremely Slow Service
We waited almost an hour after ordering, and no food arrived. When we finally asked the staff, they casually said, “It’s already on the grill.” Would they have even started cooking if we hadn’t asked?
Raw and Inedible Food • Undercooked Kidney: The kidney skewers were completely raw in the middle, still red and bloody with visible membranes. When we told the owner, they insisted, “That’s fully cooked.” But we ordered two skewers, and the other one was actually cooked properly. So which one is supposed to be “right”? • Unchewable Chives: The chives were so tough they were literally impossible to chew, completely inedible. • Beef Tendon Like Rubber: This is not an exaggeration—it was so hard that I couldn’t even bite through it. Totally inedible. • Squid Tentacles Smelled Off: The squid tentacles had a strange odor, like they had gone bad. We didn’t dare eat them.
Overcharged for Missing Dishes
When we got the bill and checked the receipt, we realized several items we never received were charged anyway. This seems like a deliberate scam, assuming customers won’t notice.
Possible Food Poisoning
The worst part? Within an hour of eating, I had diarrhea twice. This strongly suggests food safety issues.
Overall, slow service, awful food quality, shady billing, and potential health risks make this place a nightmare. Avoid...
