Agatha Coffeeshop & Eatery — Restaurant in Melbourne

What a delightful cafe. This experience took us back to several wonderful experiences we’ve had in Italy. And that’s not surprising as the owners are both Italian, one from Venice and one from Sicily. We had a simple order. A couple of iced coffees and half each of a mortadella and cheese panini plus a mineral water. The quality of what we received was exceptional. The quality of the panini bread was superb as was the mortadella and cheese. The thing looked so thrillingly simple and it was utterly delicious and we could barely bring ourselves to finish it., it was that good The iced coffee was a beauty too - it was excellently made and presented - and as we’d been on a walk in the sun before stopping here, the mineral water went down a treat as well. We had a lovely brief chat with the owners who are very friendly. We enjoyed this experience so much we made a quick mental note and that was, “return for lunch here very very soon”.

We did go back for a quick casual lunch a few weeks later and it was just as good here. We had iced coffees again and a couple of paninis including a Proscuitto, mozzarella, tomato and roquette one. They were utterly delicious! We made ourselves another promise. We are coming back for a big lunch!! 😃

Well, I finally managed to get there today because I'd heard so much about this little cafe / eatery, a little over a year ago. This is definitely the best kept secret in Lower Heidelberg Rd. Ivanhoe and it's nestled among some other beaut boutiques. I was curious, so I had a beaut coffee while I looked over the menu. Feeling quite hungry I settled on the arancini as a snack, followed by the Confit of Duck Leg with a fried egg on toast. These were delicious and as I ordered another slice of toast, I found out that everything is prepared fresh and on the premises!

By 11: 30am. the place was buzzing with a few ladies finishing a late breakfast while others began coming in for lunch.

I had to reluctantly get back to work but they'll definitely see me at Agatha's again for lunch with my colleagues. Thank you for a wonderful experience, see...

My new favourite Cafe in Ivanhoe and surrounds. Friendly, welcoming staff with a warm, homely atmosphere that takes you away from the all too common genericism plaguing cafes today.
