I’ve gone here for years but they broke my damn heart tonight with dodgy pricing on my birthday - I guess they did it cos they were having a light night because the footy was on. It’s like they just made the prices up randomly. I ordered three shots of vodka and they charged me $56. What? That’s $22.66 per shot of basic unbranded vodka, which is crazy expensive and a rather bizarre price point. With mixer on top for 6 bucks a bottle on top of that we were paying cocktail prices for a basic spirit. Then they charged me corkage for my one 5-buck crappy BYO bottle of wine for ‘3x people’ at $23, which is $7.66 per person, which is also just seems a weird number, when previously corkage had been so minimal I’d never noticed it. Waiter’s Club is free, I thought Amiconi was the same. Just bizarre. Man, I’m just disappointed. The food was great but is in no way worth $80 per person when we didn’t even order entrees. Faaaaark man I thought these guys were genuine legends before but I feel embarrassed to have taken my friends here after raving about...
Read moreHad a work function dinner here on a weekday. This is a small restaurant with a homey feel. The staff are great, very welcoming and happy to explain the menu if there's anything you need to know. They were attentive without being intrusive so we never had to wait long for a waiter. This seems to be very much a family restaurant, with a simple hearty Italian menu. The serves are generous and everything I had was delicious. The veal parmigiana was delicious with a couple of tender flavourful veal slices and a delicious topping. Others had Seafood Marinara, Scallopini, everyone enjoyed their meals. Antipasto serve for 2 was huge, with a great range of cheeses, olives, marinated tomatoes, aubergine, mushrooms, various meats etc. The huge platter only had a couple of Grissini/breadsticks on top of it which was nowhere near enough for the amount of Antipasto. Atmosphere is very homey, down to earth. This is the sort of place I would come to on a regular basis for a relaxed...
Read moreThere are many nice things to say about this truly authentic Italian dining experience. Firstly the restaurant is cosy and very romantic. The waiters are excellent, knowledgeable and attentive. The menu is extensive and unlike many Italian restaurants is not completely dominated by pasta options. From the absolutely delicious olives that are waiting on your table when you first arrive through the garlic bread with full flavour and crispy edges to the beautiful pastas and very impressive selection of Wines this is a restaurant that lives up to it's reputation. The trio of pastas is an excellent option for couples and the selection of desserts available are hard to resist especially the passionfruit souffle. I highly recommend that you visit amiconi restaurant. I will...
