Ok to be perfectly honest the service of this place is questionable and the hygiene was similarly so (probably because I rocked up towards the later part of the evening) That being said the food was fantastic. Having eaten indian food nearly every week and at different places this one is definitely a contender for one of the better joints around Melbourne City. The prices are also cheap and reasonable considering the quality and serving sizes. In hindsight the attitude of the server and lack of atmosphere was just part and parcel of any legitimate Indian restaurant. Food was without a doubt top notch :)

Hygiene standards were a bit appalling and mosquitoes were flying everywhere. I ordered a samosa chaat and mutton biryani - the biryani was quite delicious and a massive serving. They don’t have free tap water at this place and I thought the bottled water was free because the owner just took it out of the fridge and put it on my table. They do charge $2 for it, so don’t open it and drink it if you don’t want to... overall I spent $27 and took some of the biryani home. An ok meal but probably won’t be rushing to return due to the unhygienic state of this place..

Ordered mutton biryani at this place with one dessert ( Rasmalai) and drink ( Holsten). ⛔️⛔️⛔️ Found a cockroach in the biryani. Biryani was also not fresh. Very dry rice with no proper ingredients. When I showed it to the restaurant guy he didn’t even bothered to apologise for this kind of service. Rasmalai was very poor in taste and looks like it was sitting in the fridge since many days. For the Holsten drink they charged 6$ which i feel is a bit expensive for that drink. Overall Worst experience at Mughals . Will never visit again at this place.

As someone with a discerning palate and a profound appreciation for culinary excellence, I find it imperative to express my utter disappointment with Moghal’s Restaurant. Allow me to elucidate, in painstaking detail, the myriad ways in which this establishment failed to meet even the most rudimentary expectations of dining.

First and foremost, the portion sizes. To describe them as “less than adequate” would be an insult to the concept of adequacy itself. The quantities served are laughably small, resembling more of a sampler platter than a proper meal. It is as though the management operates under the delusion that patrons dine purely for sustenance and not for satisfaction. Unfortunately, this flagrant disregard for proportion would have been forgivable had the food been extraordinary. However, and this is a monumental however, the taste was egregiously below average. In fact, it was so underwhelming that I had to verify my location twice, just to ensure I had not mistakenly wandered into a cafeteria masquerading as a fine-dining establishment.

Compounding this travesty is the pricing, which can only be described as exorbitant. Not only are the main dishes priced disproportionately to their diminutive portions, but even the desserts and beverages carry an unjustifiably high price tag. One would assume that such inflated costs might be offset by impeccable taste or premium quality. Alas, no such compensation exists. It is a classic case of high prices paired with low value—a combination that is as infuriating as it is unforgivable.

Adding insult to injury is the availability of a far superior alternative in close proximity. The Biriyani House, located nearby, offers not only generous portions but also a far more palatable dining experience at a fraction of the cost. It is a mystery to me how Moghal’s continues to operate when such competition exists.

In conclusion, Moghal’s Restaurant is an exercise in frustration and futility, where the only thing more unsatisfying than the portions is the realization that you’ve wasted your hard-earned money. My advice to prospective diners is to avoid this establishment at all costs. Instead, direct your gastronomic aspirations toward the aforementioned Biriyani House, where you’ll find better food, better portions, and, most importantly, better value. Moghal’s, I regret to inform you, is not worth a second glance, let alone a...

Called in advance to order takeaway and items were confirmed. Went there and was told both items I ordered weren't available, and they tried forcing me to buy some other item saying that's what I actually asked for. Otherwise I've found the food here to be inconsistent, and not worth the chance.. or gaslighting lol. Won't be going back or recommending

Edit: received a response from the restaurant. I can confirm that what they have said in their response regarding my order is incorrect. Perhaps they have CCTV footage of someone else they're mistaking for me?

For starters, they've mentioned my visit date as 22/7/22 (a date which hasn't even occured by the way - even on the date of this edit which is 12/7/22). Second, they say someone tried to contact me 'multiple' times and I didn't reply. My call records would indicate so, would they not? I can safely say I don't have incoming calls from this place. Third, I ordered samosa chaat? Never ordered that, ever. Fourth, the time of visit on which my review is based isn't even quite what they've mentioned.

Not sure what they're trying to get at, but I uphold my one star rating + review, based on...

I was a regular at this place, showing up every week for what I thought was a consistent Chicken Mandi dish.

Their service was never great or consistent due to staff turnover and generally what seems like lack of interest in customer experience or loyalty.

After almost 2 years of regular patronage, things have gone completely downhill. I was served chicken that was reheated, which was was still frozen towards the centre. When I asked “was this chicken out of a freezer”, the employee manning the counter said “yes, but it’s been heated”. I said it’s still frozen towards the middle and returned the plate. His response was “I can replace”. I’d informed that I’d been to this place regularly, every week for this exact dish and was disappointed, and will not be coming again. There was no remorse, hesitation in his tone and certainly no escalation even to the kitchen or recourse offered. He continued to take orders from other customers as if nothing happened.

Be...
